He's indeed going to be in the sequel, there's a character with his name. But I read a commentary that in Forever and Ever, he's ZSC's best friend and he'll be nice to him because he feels like he owns something to him (ofc, refiring how he wronged him in their past life). I read a pretty interesting analysis about what he fell so deeply and madly in love with Shi Yi. It said that Shi Yi was the only thing that he had assured through his childhood and adolescence, someone who would stand by him, that simple portrait helped him endure all the mistreatment and unfairness that he had gone through in the palace... That portrait gave him hope. But I agree I wish that he would have stick to staring at it. @PeachBlossomGoddess I totally agree with you, ZSC didn't have any suspicions about him being evil and plotting with the other army. If he really wanted to have "all", he should have let ZSC destroyed completely the other army after that as the only member of the royal family left he will have been crowned emperor with ZCS's support. He could have married peacefully Shi Yi and made her the empress as he wanted, ZSC would never snatch the bride neither usurp the throne, HE KNEW THAT. He would have had everything: his crown, his bride, his army (a really powerful one), and the support of the scholars and the people. Sadly, he allowed himself to feel way too much jealousy. Sometimes I wished that ZSC would have actually snatched the bride and usurped the throne (Allen actually said this xd). I'm certain that he would have been a great emperor and Shi Yi, a supportive, smart, and compassionate empress.

I like to think that after the late emperor died, people got to know somehow of the real version of story. After all, there was a lot of people who knew the truth.
So Iām finally doneā¦ it was a beautiful yet painful journey. I cried like there was no tomorrow ( mates, I didnāt breakdown), but my tears are really worthy, their story really touched my heart. Low key this drama has opened a door in my heart to historical dramas ( I watch lots of modern ones) I definitely recommend this gem to everyone, you really get immerse and connect with the characters and the story, you feel their pain, their frustration and their happiness. I love Shi Yi and Zhou Cheng Shen with all my heart and Iām looking forward to see them get all the happiness they deserve in Forever and Ever. Iām going to sleep ( hope that I can make it) , get in order my messy thoughts and try to write something nice about this tomorrow.
Donāt drop it, this is really worthy. Iām in 22nd episode, preparing myself to the worst and I donāt regret it. I feel so immersed in the story and the characters, and after all they will get the ending that they deserved in Forever and Ever. A painful but a beautiful and touching journey
