It was never going to be a sizzling romance. It was a more mature love, shown through actions and sacrifices for each other.

I also don't have an explanation for the final final part, but didn't mind as much as others seem to.

I liked this drama (despite having *huge* issues with the editing, pacing and an intermediate storyline... and probably other things). It was always about two people making huge sacrifices to protect each other and the six realms, and that was how it was to the end.

Maybe should add, I wasn't aware of the hype surrounding it before I started, so I had no expectations. I'd also read the manhua before. These two factors might have influenced my opinion.

But the originla protagonists are teenagers. And the little girl is like a child bride. No way are they making that into a drama :D

In the original manhua, we start from modern times. Each couple is a human-spirit who were in love centuries ago. Normally something bad happens to them in that timeline, and the reincarnated versions get together in the modern timeline.

In the drama, we start from the "centuries ago" and end in the modern time

The original story is that... all the couples have bad ending in the past. Their reincarnations get together in modern times.
