I though KP the novek was childish at best; the way Porsche and Pete in the series masked his worries with comedy, well ... the novel comparison, masked their fears by behaving like toddler princess divas and it was CRINGE to read.
I think in terms of the shallow in the novel, it's because you as a reader are filled in to know as much as the officerd and the public knows about HKQ, and you find out as you are reading. Same with LYP, you get what's on his mind from his POV, you don't get to see the whole world around them. I like that. And it was never meant to be a full on romance it's more a catmouse tango. I loved it. But I admit it's a hard story to edit and proofread.

So. You really don't have to watch the series if that's the mindset you have. That simple. I have my own view on the series. I am invested in the characters and I am at a stage where I have to have the characters well explained to me.
So opting to give you a perspective where I think the actor is going to be well suited for it once he's done with rehearsals and all... is my own choice and opinion. You really don't have to agree.
