It's very very confusing for someone who's read the novel too. Honestly... seing the trailer for it and be8ng very happy to see this novel come to life at the same time going "wth? Who is that?" Quite a few times because I did not recognize their names thinking I need to find the novel to read again. Realizing I couldn't find it in english and decided to do it myself. A novel so old and so good needs to have a proper english translation, no?😅

If you're referring to the trailer scene where he holds the gun at Kong Que, or the scene where he lies in bed crying near the end of the trailer...
The scene where he is yelling and pointing a gun at Kong Que is out of anger and betrayal, there's no sadness really. But it's hard to explain their dynamic without spoiling the entire story. So I won't get into it.
If you refer to the one where he's lying in bed half crying I see no issues in that particular scene to be honest.
Or if you're referring to the scene where he is branding himself with a glowing hearth iron..... There's also a deeper nuance to that scene than just the basic visual representation of what you see. I agree that it's hard for the actors, even to have studied and read the novel more in depth and then have to show a more complex struggle like being branded and have a literal scolding iron pressed to your thigh and to then have to pretend to imagine how painful that is, while at the same time being in conflict dealing with a character who is too prideful to admit that he's actually hurting and just wants to shownoff a stoic face.
And no l, I might have done a deeper psychological personality analysis of the characters and the nuanced layers of both of them to understand the simplicity of your perception of the scenes being bad.
Though I assure you, your opinion is valid. I'm simply trying to explain to you that some scenes may be more nuanced than your eye's perception, based on the indepth analysis of characters I have.
I could perhaps explain all scenes in depth but it would be to spoil the story, I am in the very process od layering the narrative though.
Personality wise, Lu Yi Peng is Frustrated, Angry, Resentful and wants revenge. But he does not show sadness. Maybe they added some characters ro play on that dynamic idc. To give more colored nuances to the scenes.
The emotional struggles of Yi Peng, is described as visibly chaotic. He pretends to play things stoic but ultimately, the other reads him like a book. No tears needed, even hard to produce because he's too angry to cry. And that makes his face contort in ugly and strange.

Ok, well still Lu is not supposed to be good at showing those kinds of emotions either. Layers are important and if you don't know the character you can easily blame the actor... just like people who never read the novel blamed frank for Itt... when everyone who read the novel knew he did EXACTLY as Itt was written.
It's not bad acting if it's MEANT to be like that.

Oh, the Tom & Jerry vibes are so strong with these two ;) But add an element of sado-tendencies and dilligaf. Truly hoping the series will do the characters justice.

Chill, Lu the characrer is not a good actor. He plays tough, but dares not do anything too wild and therefor he doesn't object so heavily to some things.

Yeah it's a theme in terms of "menacing" subtext. Psychological subtext is very important. Every action shows something else. Micromovements right in front of your face can appear to be one thing but actually show something completely different, depending on what you're ACTUALLY looking at.
For Tony, look at his eyes and his body-stance when he does things. For Charlie, look at his exaggeration and when he stands still. For Babe, look at his jawline and his shoulders when he does things or interacts with someone. For Way, make sure you know exactly what he does with his eyes and hands at all times he is talking to or looking at anyone. Anyone. ;) For Jeff, observe when he's still and silent. For Kenta, his eye are obvious tells, but also, observe his actions more closely. For Alan, notice his words. About Kim, make sure to note his reserved actions too.

We see them trimming trees, they see small parts of yhe "family tree" or any other 'relation' tree beung cut off. Each branch representing a name that needs weeding. It's VERY relaxing and stops them (temporarily) from cutting off the actual limb.
Many villains are seen "weeding" out trees for a symbolic reason.
Cut if the "dead and useless parts" by literally undoing them.
As for what parts of his "family" tree Tony sees as useless.. story will tell.
Alphas can be submissive... and yea they can be paired together... but i have no idea if babe is an Alpha or not.
Oh, I'm not sure what route the series will take, we just have to wait and see, people asked for spoilers of the novel so I gave some spoilers of the novel. I have honestly no clue where or what route the series will take. it is after all "based on" not a "literal performance of" so who knows.
I can say, that in the Novel, Babe really shouldn't trust anyone but Alan in the beginning..

As noted when Babe sensed him despite being in stealth to sneak into the staff area of the racetrack. Carlie didn't speak up until he realized Babe could sense him once he got too close....
And after that he used stealth to "Turn off" his scent by using his second superability => Absorbtion .
He stole away some of Babes ability in order to better mask his scent... something he can only do by touch and eyecontact.
By using both his abilities, he can hide his scent from Babe and thus, making babe think they are hypercompatible fckbuddies.
