Thanks to this article, i re-discover this franchise. I remember watching this as a kid together with my cousin, but I watch only one of the first two season (if I'm not mistaken).
IMO, the ending of the final movie is OK. rather than going for a "fairytale" ending, they go with the most unexpected way possible. But I think that they can do better than that. The exact person who murder Yamada's father is remained unanswered (cmiiw), Why they didn't make (him/her) the final boss instead of a random Malaysian shaman?
Possibly but idk for sure. After all, DZ2 was supposed to air last year but got postponed thanks to the pandemic.…
It's more about details. Some scene felt a bit weird, minor students and teachers are omitted and the school is too "empty". after episode 3 only episode 7 that feature a lot of students.

The ending means that Naoko is amnesiac (all of her memory after her first encounter with Ueda is gone).
