The ml honestly doesn’t seem like the cheating type. At most, I can see them having the same drunken kiss and then pretending they didn’t feel shit. Tho that's just a speculation. The only one getting caught in the crossfire is the sfl. Don't hurt that poor girl man.

I don't think it's this black and white. People hide stuff regardless of the remorse or guilt. In intentional or unintentional cheating the person getting cheated on is hurt all the same. So the hiding factor also becomes about continuing an "undamaged" relationship.

this ep was so cinematic and beautiful. Easily the strongest in terms of filmmaking imo (or perhaps I was paying closer attention to this one lol). from its beautiful depiction of death to a time skip that didn't feel clunky (contrary to popular opinion), and pairing it with this otherworldly cinematography? im fed. It's also unfortunate(or fortunate) that this drama may never give us the satisfaction of a conventional romance. tho that feels perfectly in line with the story it is trying to tell.

I interpreted it as a montage of what politics really was(and is). It was an indirect nod to what lanxiang had said to him during the play. He got to experience firsthand the political marginalization of the eunuchs and the subjects in general, the rigidity of the system, the dictatorship, and the killings that happened because of the emperor or perhaps the system as a whole(the scene where he visualized himself in the middle of a war). the camera panning across him when he was walking around emphasized the isolation he was experiencing in the palace. More or less, to me, it was more about the ml's realization that, yes, the system itself is flawed and rotten, like the fl said (or warned).
