This isn’t your typical sweet, feel-good romance. It’s a drama about relationships as they exist in real life. Layered, complicated and intense. I love how the storyline unfolds so thoughtfully, leading you down certain assumptions about the characters. You start forming opinions, bracing yourself for the worst, feeling nervous about what might happen next and then it surprises you. Can’t wait for the next episodes to see how the characters continue to grow and how their relationships eventually evolve.
Enjoyed this so much, such a great drama! I loved the camaraderie and how the princess grew into a strong person.
I tried so hard to avoid spoilers but got spoiled by LYN in an interview I came across. Now I’m putting off the last episode… I’m not sure when I will be brave enough to face it. 🥲
I absolutely loved this drama. I have always been someone who only watched modern dramas and never really gave costume dramas much of a chance (I tried a few before, and while they were good, they did not quite capture me). But this show completely changed my perspective and honestly blew my mind. Every scene was gripping. I was so hooked, episode after episode, and could not stop watching.
What struck me most was the depth of the leads and how well both actors brought them to life. The ML could easily have let hatred or the thirst for power (like the villains in the show) consume him, but instead he rose above it, letting go of vengeance for the greater good of his people. The FL was just as impressive. She's strong, resilient, intelligent, and able to stay calm, think clearly, and lead in difficult situations. Both leads portrayed their emotions so powerfully. Song Zuer especially moved me. My heart broke with her more than once.
The bond between Wei Shao and his generals and advisor was a joy to watch. Their chemistry was fantastic and their interactions were hilarious. Truly, the entire cast delivered outstanding performances.
The drama is filled with meaningful quotes and takeaways as well. Safe to say, it has become one of my favourite Chinese dramas of all time. One I will definitely rewatch!!
Absolutely loved this show. The leads were intelligent, mature, and emotionally strong, not just individually but even more so together. I loved how they faced challenges side by side, with no unnecessary drama or misunderstandings. Their relationship was rooted in mutual respect and growth, constantly lifting each other up and helping one another become the best version of themselves. They confronted the pain of their pasts head on and healed together. The storyline was engaging and well-paced. Definitely adding this to my list of favourites!
Enjoyed this show so much. It was so relatable that I found myself feeling unexpectedly sad and gloomy while watching. I was so glad to see them find the courage to walk out of what was weighing them down, towards hope, healing and strength. A small part of me felt like it healed together with them. Wonderful job portraying their characters with such depth and authenticity.
The entire drama was well-paced and concluded beautifully. The plot was clear and well-explained. Not to mention, the amazing chemistry between the main and second leads. And the OST though... It's stuck in my head! It's been a while since I've seen such a satisfying and thoughtfully crafted ending. Nothing felt rushed or incomplete.
I have lost count of the number of times I have rewatched this show. I always find myself coming back to it. I have learned so much from this—from Dani's perseverance and dedication as she works her way up to the behind-the-scenes preparation and effort the team puts into publishing and marketing a book. Makes me appreciate and respect every book on the shelf even more. Not to mention Lee Jong Suk's beauty! Absolutely a 10/10 for me. My comfort show ❤️
This is the first time I’m watching Fan Cheng Cheng’s drama and gosh, he’s such a great actor and controls his expressions so well! Definitely a fan now
