I haven't read the novel - and not sure how true the show holds to the novel anyway... Tang Hao won the fight against Bi Bi Dong. You have to assume that it's a longer fight than they shown. Thus they all left. Only these at the last scene because they were bringing TS to the entrance of the secret garden (remember how his grass unlocks this portal realm from the mountain cove- that's where they are). So, his father ends with say "when he wakes up, he can go in" because he needs to awake to turn the key with his grass. The show ends with them outside the realm, waiting for TS to wake up to go in. The rest of the 7 has no reason to go. They can't go in. and it's a secret (they thought the poison master gave them all those special herbs earlier, not TS has a secret garden full of amazing herbs to harvest whenever he wants.) Also, if TS father say don't come, that'd pretty much is it. The teachers would say "let TS go with his father".... (At this point, the 7 are more or less fine. Maybe some wounds from the battle, but they were jumping and cheering having won gold. The only one seriously hurt is TS because he told BBD to kill him first - BBD has no intention or reason to hurt the 7. She insist they are still the winner of the tournament. Only xiao wu, and therefore TS were at risk. So father saved TS, and along with xiao wu - because xiao wu reminds him of his wife / TS's mother. Father won fight. They left. Going to secret garden to get some special herbs for TS to recover...)

agreed! so rare to have a show that makes me care about the "side characters"!

there is a lot of rumors on the cast. I would be very cautious about hoping it's the same people... xz did this when he was not popular... paid, choice, schedule, everything about him has changed...

OMG!! It's SO SHORT! I feel like even with 144ep, I'd be able to binge this too fast... at that point, have to move to novel.... (It does help with withdrawal...) hahah

I made the opposite decision. knowing this was coming out, I purposely waited to start Soul Land. I'm glad I did. I get now how different they are, and how first impression of a story matters. Now, I get to enjoy both! It's seriously helping me while "waiting" for S2. I love the 7 monsters!

i have the same hope, but i know better than to wait... most s2 takes forever and a day to come out... I LOVE that last ep. (Still not perfect, I feel like every ep can use an extra 10 min). Now... I bing Soul Land to satisfy my withdrawal ;)

haha. I made the opposite decision. Knowing this was going to come out, I waited for Soul Land. From Untamed, I knew I'd go through withdrawal. And now, I'm really enjoying Soul Land in a way that it doesn't interfere with my enjoyment of the live-action. I understood they had to cut some of the bloody fights (or that can be rumor). I feel like any fight that doesn't demonstrate a value (e.g. teamwork) were cut... (I think Tang Hao vs BBD lasted longer, just not shown...)

shows get second seasons if they make money - the best way overseas fans can support is to pay for VIP and watch it on official platforms, in my opinion. Money talks.

that could be. I think it's similar to "kid". It can be causal and relative. I took it as potentially imply an age. But I do agree that it may be grasping at straws... not sure the drama actually defined age. But I've also learned with c-drama to take age loosely. Particularly when cultivation is involved - how old are people supposed to live? No idea ;)

oh I had no idea! I've been waiting for this series because of mty. I actually love adaptations - it gives me the opportunity to see the same story executed in different ways, and gives me even better appreciation of the story world. Now, I have to watch this and the English version!

I think these characters at the end should be somewhere between 10-15. Because bibidong called them shao nian.

yeah - I agree with the other commenters. the 10 year comment is deliberately misleading so she doesn't know even the time he's searching for. His reach search is in 10-20 years (so, he's somewhere between 10-20 years old ;) ) -- I also think he's probably younger than 16-18 (though no proof of such). Societies historically view "coming of age" much younger... I would be surprised if he's older than 11/12 in that first ep... but that's just personal opinion (never articulated)

tbh, this whole show gives me a more contemporary feel than I anticipated going in - but I like it. It feels like it really is made for today (the down side is that I don't necessarily think it'll age as well as the more classical wuxia). Curious on your thought as you progress. (and age in c-drama.... is there such a thing?? ;p)

i purposely didn't start the anime waiting for the live action version. Now going to binge the anime... I suspect S2 will take forever and a day to come out...

@mzmariam a little off topic for this listing - but The Untamed Special Edition may be more your pace. (Only available overseas and cuts out some of the extra subplot. Though I enjoyed the original.)
