I hated that the show highlighted the sentimental aspect and not the games. Besides the 3rd game, the other games were lame and anti-climatic with so little strategy. If you plan to watch this because of the strategic aspect of the games, lower your expectations. I also hated that MC, I wish Park Hae Soo's character would be the MC. The MC has no sense of reality at all (explanation is in the reply towards bayanoh) . The only saving grace of the show was the cop (Wi Ha Joon lookin like a snaccc), but alas look how that turned out... a cliffhanger plothole, literally. There has to be a second season or that ending would be tragically terrible. Comparing to Netflix's dramas this year (Move to Heaven, DP), this is a real letdown.
I guess Netflix is so bad at making romance, but good at making thriller/suspense.
Um the main producer here is jTBC, sure Netflix probably partially produced it as well but they're just the main distributor imo. You probably didn't like the ending but the first half of the series gave me literal butterflies that I have never experienced in any other drama due to the realistic romance scenes, so to say that "they're so bad at making romance" is kinda off for me.
Very interesting article. We'll have to disagree on the Netflix influence, I absolutely hate it that Netflix got…
I know Netflix co-produced some of the famous kdramas that are aired on Netflix like CLOY, Vincenzo etc but those dramas are still written and directed by Korean people and are broadcasted in on cable tv in Korea (tvn/jtbc). So as to say, Netflix is involved in "Westernizing" those dramas. How much are they really influencing the plot and production of those dramas? TVN/Jtbc is also known for having bizarre drama plots, so can you really really say that it was Netflix that they are trying to produce dramas that feel "Westernized" (plots like crashing in NK, mafia drama, business startup drama- like these are fresh ideasand are kinda bizzare) If I'm not mistaken, isn't Netflix just the distributor of those dramas?
My point is if you wanted to really talk about Netflix solely produced dramas wouldn't it be dramas like "Move to Heaven", "DP"," Squid Game", "Kingdom"," Love Alarm"(Ihated it),"Holo Love" etc...? These dramas aren't really Westernized IMO with the only exception is "So Not Worth It" but that's a sitcom.
TLDR: I do think Westernization involvement does of course influence dramas, but the examples of dramas that the article gave IMO weren't solely produced by Netflix and the dramas that were indeed produced by Netflix were actually really good, had strong Korean roots and were really aesthetic and heartwarming (Move to Heaven and DP were so good) You should try watching Netflix dramas that are solely produced by Netflix, some of them are really good (Well at least the recent ones are)
(FYI I didn't like Vincenzo , I watched Startup because of the cool business concept and the first ep was really sad but the romance part was meh, similar to Itaewon class, I also hated all of the JungHaeIn dramas he was in that was on Netflix after "While you were sleeping" except DP)
Halfway in and I wanted Park Chan to have more bromance or bl with Hae Kang after his whole "He's not my rival, he's my goal" , not a love triangle :( Wanted a plot twist during the liar game Park Chan actually received Hae Kang's name on his paper that he was talking about Hae Kang all the while LMAO
Hi, need your guys help regarding a scene when all of them was still young.Jee Hee came to bring flower and gift…
If I'm not mistaken, they didn't address what happened in that scene but its purpose was to point out that she was sad about it and maybe that's why it took so long for them to meet and date (?)
Finally watched it after having it on my waitlist for so lon... It's soo goood! My only complaints were that they didn't do justice to the aftermath of some of the characters from the earlier episodes. (Ex: Dr Go, KAIST, Kim Min Sung(woodwork), Jeombaki(woodwork) - What happened to them? ) I think they messed up JunHo and Jee Hee's age through the plot. - In a scene in a restaurant when JH wanted to go to the restroom and JH wanted to follow for her safety, she claims that "she isn't a child, she's only 1 year younger than him" but during the highschool graduation scene she looked like a kindergartener next to JH ._. I also wanted a scene where Junho reveals to his colleagues that he and JH are best friends since grade school :/ And the scene where Jean Valjean meets with KMC outside :')
I got bored of the repetitive plot at ep5. So far the plot seems typical of a conglomerate company and their corrupt…
EDIT: Finished watching it. I treated this drama way to seriously as a crime/murder drama that's why I got bored and infuriated by the plot. If you look at the drama as a comedy, then it all works out :) Also KDY was the only fav char for me, his last scene broke me :')
I would say so. But it depends. because most people loved it from 4 onwards after the reveal. But since you didn't…
Alright I'll give it a few more episodes and see. I didn't feel any chemistry between the main leads thus making me burn out real quick, and the comedic "antics" that Vincenzo does like his interaction with the residence or him cursing people in Italian etc just ain't my cup of tea :')
I got bored of the repetitive plot at ep5. So far the plot seems typical of a conglomerate company and their corrupt bribery + murder. The only thing unique for me is the Italian ML, mafia references, and a puppet villain boss. Does it get better? I've only made it this far bc of Taec and KDY.
Great life lessons learnt from this drama, If you love dramas that have great scriptwriting and plots rather than cheesy and clique romance scenes, this is it! It's also 12 episodes which aren't too long!
