I swear!!! And, imagine being Deok Im (who otherwise wouldn’t even be allowed in there!) and essentially just standing in the presence of history being made !!!
That final words in ep. 12 by the King"I want to have a family with you."I think this is a big deal. The King…
Also I think to do with the fact that she was the only one who made him feel safe. The scene where he cried after his grandfather hit him and she opened the door to check ok him..🥺
Yes, the lead up episodes have been great. I really felt rewarded when San finally ascended the throne after go…
It felt like such a foreshadow of San and Deok Kim's story but in reverse - court lady waiting for the king. I love how they showed that everyone is human eventually and that they do what they have to do to survive.
the significance of the red sleeve was explained by the king in the first episode to a young deokim and since…
I think the significance of the 'other man' being her brother is irrelevant to the CP as in his head, it just meant that she was looking to be someone other than ' HIS woman with the RED cuffs'. If you see what happened just before the CP sees her with her brother, he was actually telling himself that he would never love like how his grandfather did (that is kill the child of the woman he loved and put her through so much pain) . He was already shaken by the fact that she actually did not have any feelings for him like he thought she did and was consoling himself by saying that he didn't care if she didn't hold any affection for him as no matter what, she would remain in the same place - that is as HIS Court Lady. He is pretty self-centered as we see when he says during the bath scene as to how he doesn't care about any of the other court ladies - he just cares about 'his possession'.
He sees her in the library with the blue cuffs where she so plainly tells him that she wasn't looking for him like he thought she would be (because he couldn't think of anything else but her!) and was was taken aback when she tells him with so much certainty and confidence that although she belonged to him, her thoughts, heart and feelings didn't. I think that is what triggered him - he finally found someone he could call 'his' as both his parents' fate and the fate of everyone else around him was determined by his grandfather and she was the only one who he thought 'belonged' completely to him (although in his head, he justified this as being in love).
His whole display of power clearly was him feeling insecure and hurt - 'Even if you'll never need me like I need you, I'll make sure to threaten you into staying with me - because I can't be without you'. He even went on to show this absolute authority over her but making her wonder what exactly he'll do to her by first fondling her and then grabbing her neck and then fondling her again. While telling her that her life, and whether she lived or died, would be decided by him.
Dude clearly has issues and needs therapy. Also, Jun Ho has done a brilliant job.
I jumped straight from The Imperial Coroner to Maiden Holmes, and I've got to say, the kisses are waayyyyy more…
Thank you for this! As much as I LOVE Zhang Ling He, I have to agree with you on his voice and intonation. He used his real voice in one of his other dramas and it was difficult for me to focus on the scenes because his dialogue delivery took away from it - even though I don't understand Chinese :) (I kept imagining him putting a full stop after each sentence and to me it looked like his mouth kept closing in time with it. :))
His acting has improved quite a bit with his other dramas but yes, his dialogue delivery could do with some work. I saw an interview of his where he said that he hadn't had any acting experience or training prior to taking on his first role and that frankly endeared him to me a lot. He seems like a very hardworking actor and I am excited to see him in TGCF and hoping it all pans out well there. One of the main reasons for the success of The Untamed is because of how ZX and WY's dialogue delivery and emotive expressions on screen were so in sync despite having dubbed voices and I am keeping my fingers crossed ZLH and ZXW are able to do the same because they are already so perfect to look at as the characters :)
this is the kind of drama that should've been made in 2010-2016 because its vibe screams historical dramas of…
Ah! This is what it is for me too! Thank you for explaining it so articulately. I was excited about watching a sageuk drama after so long but it doesn't quite hit the spot for me :)
You need to watch The Rational Life, a great drama to watch and I loved his character in it (don't be too impatient,…
True! Even the stunts were ridiculous! They all just stood there while heavy wind blew around them and things just happened lol! I loved the premise of the story and wished that it was better written, too. The second lead there was really good as well. I think he has a new drama coming out as well - a Xian Xia one again.

True, I really enjoyed The Rational Life and liked DW in that immensely.
One thing I have got to say about him though is that he can carry off wigs for period dramas really well (or he gets a really good wig person every time!). He looked great in MTD and that hair suited him so well. And it is the same here.
It is a pet peeve of mine when actors do period/costume dramas and their wigs take away from their looks (case in point, Maiden Holmes - I LOVED everything about ZLH but his hair!!!) I hope ZLH is made to look good here as he is such a handsome man.
There was an earlier post about this, but yes ML is dubbed by Bian Jiang. If you watch a lot c-dramas, you should…
I love his voice and the various nuances he brings into it! It's easy to recognise because of the timbre but every character he voices sounds so different!
