Someone on Facebook mentioned Tofu real endgame is actually Kuenchai since he is the only one who knows the teddy bear is Tofu (also how Kuenchai just carrying Tofu everywhere LOL) hahahaha
I guess much like what the show hinted at on The Little Prince, our interpretation will change as we age. I guess as an older audience, I felt the ending was justified, but I can see how whichever way the show endings, it is going to upset some part of the fandom regardless.
If the show let both Tarn and Tofu survive (as a human), are we expecting a threesome relationship? If Tarn dies, people will complain it is not fair to Tarn, since he still loves Nut and didn't deserve to die for no reason. Would it be better if Tofu reincarnated and fall in love with someone else? I guess the show anticipated that so they tried to balance everything by having Nut love both Tofu (as a bear) and Tarn. Since the show is generally grounded in reality, despite the fantasy elements, it would make sense for Nut to move on since Tofu has 'died'.
If you listen carefully to the dialogue of the show, you will notice things are not always bright and sunny like in most BLs, the TRN lady didn't get caught, Jan is still alive (albeit a fate worst than death, watching her husband in jail or even getting the death sentence), so naturally it is to prepare the audience that the show isn't going to have a bright and sunny ending either (as far as romance goes). I think the point is that the journey is more important than the destination, and regardless that Tofu didn't get to end up with Nut in the human way, what he achieved as a human helped make Nut's family to be better, and his legacy remains in Nut's next TV series.
It is a bittersweet ending but I am glad this show existed because it really taught me a lot and I can't wait to see more BL with more grounded themes like these that discuss important issues like corruption, mental health, domestic violence and so on.
Tofu was non-existent at the beginning. He didn't asked to be born but he was and become eventually his own person…
Well. Tofu was born out of the love between Tarn and Nut, and as an embodiment of love, it is in his nature to sacrifice himself to see Nut happy, even if it means dying so that Tarn could wake up. But he did not expect another miracle to happen that allows him to be with Nut again, albeit in teddy bear form. At the very least, Tofu was happy that Nut can find comfort that Nut will be treated well by Tarn. Given that apart from the fantasy elements, the show is generally grounded in reality, so it is naturally Nut would move on from Tofu.
I guess which ever ending happens, some parts of the fandom would be upset regardless. Are we expecting them to be in a threesome relationship if both Tofu and Tarn survive? Would it be fair to Tarn if he dies?
I know that dinner discussion was necessary for commentary purposes, but irl, I wouldn’t have wasted a single…
I find that part rather intriguing, that the writer set Jan up as a proxy for the conservative people who might be watching, since this is air during prime time on national TV. This show is really a breakthrough drama for the LGBTQ community in Thailand <3
The writing (and acting) this week was absolutely brilliant. Often times shows create tension but fail to resolve…
Don't forget physical abuse. Sib literally threw his kid to the ground and hit him to the point Nut feels that he needed to protect himself. Sib also shoved his wife. He is the reason the family is dysfunctional. Sadly, what Sib does (mistreating his wife and son) is something that does occur in the news from time to time, so it is good to see it being discussed in the show the aftermath of such abuse.
I like this series, but I feel its unnecessarily extended with long episodes...had to skip most part...n the one…
I am guess cuz it is a Lakorn that is shown on national TV, they usually have a lot of flashback and explanation for the benefit of people who may have skipped 1 or 2 episodes or missed out certain parts as they are hanging out with their friends or family. This may feel like it is dragging a little bit. I feel that it is best enjoyed while you are doing something else at the same time, such as folding laundry doing online shopping, lol
