Yes, from both aspects. One friend has her husband cheat on her. The other finds out she’s basically the other woman. It’s done very well and realistically though. No hopeless pining and women playing the martyr.

First CDrama I’ve watched where I absolutely detested the so-called “good” guys and was absolutely rooting for the antagonists. The protagonist, her love interest, and her dad were selfish and weak jerks. The dad especially…thinking an apology was going to erase the pain he caused. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree either…

I’ve not been able to watch the entire drama as only YouTube has it with English subs and only long clips at that. However, one thing I cannot figure out was does the guy who was paralyzed love the FL or not? He seemed to have no sexual interest in her, but he couldn’t meet the eyes of his lover when she asked if he could deny if he had the FL in his heart. Was it just gratitude for taking care of him when he was paralyzed? Am I missing something from scenes I haven’t been able to catch? Because there were a couple of shots here and there where he gave longing looks, but he also seemed genuinely enthusiastic about that mayor guy liking her and was telling her what a great couple they could be. A real head-scratcher this one.

I hate dramas that reward cheaters with a happily ever after. The fact that one of the guys hooked up with his own damn wedding planner assistant is disgusting. And then they have this woman just embraced into the fold and doing business with the ex too. Yeah, right. Thought I was going to vomit seeing them playing house together in the final episode. 🤢

Yep. Caught a few more episodes though didn’t bother to update it on the review because it’s just not that important. She’s still stupid. He’s still a simp. So I don’t speak the language and watched without subtitles - none were available - but it seems HL was not going back with him as she used that other guy to make him think she was in a relationship. Does that mean that XR didn’t get in an accident but intentionally crashed his car? I can’t think of any other reason he would lie like that except as some sort of final wishful thinking self-delusion. Man, that makes me even sadder for these two. 😢

Many people haven’t seen the original, so it exposes an excellent story to a wider audience. I watched it a few years back, and it’s an excellent script. Plus, the elements in it - lots of angst, twists, dark journey of introspection - make it great for a kdrama adaptation.

The Mantis was an excellent story. I can see it translating well into a KDrama.

Watched a clip of this drama, and I’m not only confused but embarrassed for the writer. Like are we to really believe that, with no explanation, the ML can get the hospital to perform an abortion on his wife without telling her? That’s legit what he tells the nurse - to have the procedure anyways and don’t tell her and the nurse is like “okay.” And then there’s a montage of her having run away and getting pampered by another guy while her husband is running around in the streets looking for her. I can’t. This pushes past my limit of cheesiness and tropes. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I agree with most of your points, but I will say that I feel the writers didn’t prop up Gu Jia as a perfect character in her marriage either. You’re right that her husband should never have had a leadership role, but he said that…he just wanted to design, and she was the one who pushed for him to run his own company - probably because it would allow the family to reach the elite status she was craving at the beginning. Honestly, though his weak character is a turn off for me, I think for their overall relationship it works with their personalities. The problems arose when she pushed him out of his comfort zone because of her ambition and he started resenting her control even though he honestly relies on it. I mean, bro even had her dump his mistress for him. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I hope it airs on Viki then because some of these platforms have been using AI for subs (like Tencent), and they suck. Some parts are downright incomprehensible.

Just discovered this actor in the drama The Fox's Summer and am shocked that he is not in more and better roles. Can't help but wonder if it's just bad luck/timing, an incompetent management agency, or the rabid Asian fan attitude towards married stars that has kept his career from taking off. I really hope it's not the last possibility. Saw a few pictures of him and his family and while I'm not a body language expert, I don't think you have to be in order to recognize his absolute adoration for his wife and children. Beautiful to see.
