I believe that mudan and sheng yi are the polar opposite of each other. mudan is what sheng yi would have been if she had a good family and was loved and sheng yi was what mudan would have been if she grew up in the same environment that sheng yi did cause let's face it, mudan had a very good foundation. her parent's were rich, taught her how to plant peonies to make money, taught her how to manage businesses and medicine, taught her to love herself and how to be a human being.
