Probably because they didn't think local Chinese viewers (the majority of their audience) would be sensitive to English or foreign language accents. Honestly, most Chinese folks wouldn't bat an eye about English proficiency in Chinese actors. LOL

If you know Mandarin, you will see that the investor's Mandarin isn't great either. She has a weird accent. I guess between the two: bad English or bad Mandarin, then it makes sense to go with English if her character is living in the US.
