Boss is the Monet of BL. He and his crew (and four incredible actors) have painted an impressionist masterpiece of awkward teenage relationships. Up close it seems messy and disjoint, till you drop back from it and see it for the genius Gel Boys is.

P’AOF’s chosen director needs to go to film school and learn a thing or two about sound and CGI. the script seems written by an intern. maybe run it through undumb the dialogue GPT But the actors are sure perty to look at. I shouldn’t have watched it just after catching up on Gel Boys it’s like looking at 4th grade art after Picasso. but I’ll give it a chance.

I’m so bought in on this one. the artistic vision is even greater than the sum of its parts. so much is said without needing to be said. I hope this catches on. Boss, you are ahead of the times. or should I say with the times. It’s the rest of the TBL industry that now needs to catch up. slide whistles, cowbells and sponge baths maybe don’t gel it done nymore. this one is special just like ITSAY was special. lightning struck twice. at least for me. I wish the budget allowed for more eps. maybe the final scene in ep 2 needed a little more story to get there. but for 7 eps, well done to move it along.

+ the iPhone advertisement too, series was shot in iPhone, so makes sense.
The DP talks about shooting some of the scenes on an iPhone during the documentary

I kept thinking that it reminded me of something but couldn't remember the name of it, you hit it on the head.
natural one from folk implosion fits the vibe of Siam too but instead of doing drugs and having promiscuous sex at least so far they’re just getting their nails done still cooler than shit.

Hmmm. I can’t remember the last time I wanted to go back and watch the first episode of a BL again. Maybe Old…
and I just did this to savor every flavor of what Boss served up.

reminds me of a U.S. movie from the 90’s called Kids. the filming style especially. gotta hand it to Boss. I think he’s done it again with an innovative BL concept that pushes the tired Thai BL format forward.

saw the 9.1 rating before starting and thought it was an inflated number. well it's been a while but i binged…
It's rare to get perfect execution of blended K-drama success formulas in one drama. It's as if "Descendants of the Sun" slept around with several medical dramas, had a baby, and noone knows who the father is. But the kid grew up to be a success.

This sure one deserves its rating and all the positive comments so far. After watching Trauma Code, I thought for sure I’d get stuck in A Kdrama rut after that rocket ride, but this one kicks anus too!

you are the 'child internet clown' here, LOL. Realistic things only sharpen the fiction, not the opposite. And…
Hey Hyun-ju, if you get Max try the new American series the Pitt, very intense medical show likely more toward your taste for realism. I think you will dig it though some of the scenes have made me squirm. once I realized what the Trauma Code was, I went with it and loved it. my taste tends toward yours but I agree with points made above about the style of this series(not the child clown stuff) , and I don’t think they were meant to disparage you..well at least not your preference for a different tone and style. I think it was in defense of its more over the top nature. but now I’ll bud out. let me know if you like the Pitt.

Okay Cheater Screamers, WTH! This is a drama. There are plenty of undesirable plots that make dramas worth watching.…
Those of us who spent our 20's in the real BL world can certainly relate to this series and what you wrote! Great dramas have a central conflict and make the audience feel something, and it doesn't always have to be heartfluttering and cute. MM relationships are both messy and are hardly ever all sunshine and roses.. This drama has been set up expertly by the screen writers and author of source material. I am so happy series like this one and "Love in the Big City" are being made. A steady diet of plotless cuteness gets boring , so bring on the messiness. It's the way it is,

Ok. This is the best Japanese BL since, well, the last JBL ("Our Youth"). They like to dial up the angst and tension lately. Creative interesting storyline with adult themes. But only 7 eps? They are going to have to move fast. And I'm ready for the bumpy ride.

For those here who were mesmerized by how naturally smartly written dialogue flowed from the great acting talent in this series, I thought I’d give a shout out to two lesser known BLs that were on this level from a writing standpoint. “Love Class 2” with no interdependency on the first installment. love class is not on this series level, but the writing authenticity is and the series is literally only a few tenths of a point lower in terms of overall rating and I think MDL folks fairly judged it another one that I consider to be in this league of BL is The Eighth Sense. what these series share is a level of authenticity, not often reached by people writing in this industry. so the few screenwriters that nail it, this is a good opportunity to give recognition I’m sure there’s others but those two come to mind I wish the “that’s was special bell” rang more, but “Our Youth” reminds me of how lucky I am when it does does on those few extra special occasions
