oh, I meant, maybe the names are NOT as confusing in Chinese characters. I noticed in cdramas, when they introduce themselves, they give the context of their names. maybe they sound alike phonetically but are written with different characters? I agree regarding text translation. This is dependent on the viewing platform. For example, some commenters are saying some texts in the "making cake" scene are not in iQiyi or Mango, can't remember which one. Some texts are in Viki where I watched.
Thanks š The humor in this drama can only be understood by those who watch the drama earnestly. I'm reading several comments about skipping scenes. I agree with other commenters that skipping scenes is a terrible way to watch anything because it would be hard to feel the ambiance and I think this is how the humor mostly gets lost.

oh, I did have a problem with the names. A writer has several names at her disposal why choose ones that can make it harder to understand what is going on? I understand the mistaken-niece and real-niece having the same surname being part of the plot. But Shu Yi, Shi Yan and Shi Yue are confusing at first, And there's Chen Sheng, Chen Yue Ding and Chen Kang, making it confusing to know which Mr. Chen is being referred to. However, Shi Yan and Shi Yue being similar makes sense since they are related and yeah, the similarity was used in that segment about the messed up concert date that ended with precious moments between Shu Yi and Shi Yan. But maybe the names are not as confusing in Chinese characters?
Yay I am with you - I had just a blast watching this as it was so light and funny. I've read the novel a long…
Yes, multi-layered indeed! The ex and gf thinking she was having an affair with a married man was actually suspenseful, not to mention ironic since they were the ones who cheated on her. Never in their wildest dreams could they imagine she was actually hooking up with the very eligible BIG BOSS! I couldn't wait to see their reaction when they find out. And the reveal was as satisfying as could be! This drama has many such precious moments, like when the gf made her wait to interview the Finance director and the gf ended up getting reprimanded. Another is when the gf humiliated her in the party and ended up apologizing to her publicly. The writer and director did not deserve the hate they got.
you hit the nail right on the head š this should be pinned at the top.
Thanks š For a while there I was confused why commenters were complaining about phone interruptions and other scenes I found funny and it occurred to me - the campy humor got lost on some viewers
The key to understanding Only For Love is SENSE OF HUMOR. Unless you get its campy humor, you might think it is childish, annoying, boring, has bad writing and direction. The quirky camera angles that have been much reviled contribute to the wacky feel. I found the phone interruptions that many commenters here found annoying to be actually funny. For example, in episode 19, when the phone interrupted Shi Yan and Shuyi being amorous in the snow, and it turned out to be some stupid marketing pitch, the situation was so ludicrous I laughed so hard! I was mostly giggling throughout the drama except during the emotional scenes. This drama reminds me of those madcap Hollywood rom-coms my mom and I love to watch together.
that's fine.. the fact this drama no 1 on weibo and maoyan professional chart
yes, drama scores are a hit and miss. here in mdl, dramas of idols who don't have a lot of anti-fans tend to get absurdly high scores, pushed up by fans
that's fine.. the fact this drama no 1 on weibo and maoyan professional chart
there's a discussion forum about Douban not being reliable anymore. it talks about yxh accounts blackmailing drama studios so their dramas would not be bombarded by negative comments. it's worth reading. it makes one wonder about those dramas that have high scores. does that mean the studios paid the ransom? so, douban scores are for sale?
also why are there soo many negetive comments here?
What is your point of reference then? If you rate this according to your standards for American dramas, for example, then you are doing this drama a huge disservice because no cdrama can compare with American dramas in terms of writing.
Regarding a lot of people leaving the same opinion about a drama, that is exactly what yxh and water armies aim to do - drop some criticisms that will be picked up and propagated by others. It's the nature of the internet. I'm not claiming this to have stellar writing but comparing it to other cdramas where the scripts were as bad or even worse but did not get nitpicked on, the criticisms this drama got were highly exaggerated indeed.
Anti-LMH? He's fourth actor alleged in tax evasion! And you sound like it's only article like that
I've been regretful that I found out about the sabotage on TKEM late and was not able to participate in refuting damaging allegations. So now, whenever I see something like that happen, I try to intervene. But I don't have time to counter a deluge of rabid attacks that would likely be lobbied once I post anything rosy about LMH.
Anti-LMH? He's fourth actor alleged in tax evasion! And you sound like it's only article like that
I'm not a big fan of kdramas anymore; the sabotage conducted against LMH's The King Eternal Monarch turned me off kdramaland so I'd rather not spend too much time on kdrama stuff, though I sometimes come across news like Pachinko from time to time. But I can't help voicing out my opinion when I see something like sabotage happening again.
It's not allegations anymore because they released a statement. I adore LMH and as long as he has been diligent…
the article makes it look like major tax fraud, not just oversight that had already been paid. If no malice was intended, why would this be published when the issue had already been cleared?
Anti-LMH? He's fourth actor alleged in tax evasion! And you sound like it's only article like that
There are so many good things going for him, e.g. the praises he got from the international community for Pachinko and for topping the list of internationally recognized Hallyu stars for the 5th year, but none of those get published here. Instead, this tax error that had already been corrected, as noted after the large photo that drowns out the explanation, but is made to look like a major tax fraud, is published here. It doesn't take rocket science to figure out the malice and partiality dripping here.
Er ... how are these "just allegations"? MYM have published a statement admitting that tax was underpaid, that…
if you were not too eager to throw stones, you might have cared to read on, after the large photo of LMH that diminishes the visibility and importance of the next paragraph explaining that the case was about "compensation for damages caused by the use of illegal portrait rights" and that the tax had been paid. This article made it appear like he committed major tax fraud.
These are just allegations. Why post it? MDL should really try not to be too obvious of being anti-LMH. His new drama must be close to being released as nasty stones are starting to get thrown at him.
