I have been a shipper for most of my life (almost 20yrs now) but when I was younger... we shipped characters, not actors. I was a part of a LOT of fandoms, including rp (real people) fandoms, but it was an unspoken rule back then that if u shipped characters, ESPECIALLY gay or lesbian ships, u kept your mouth and fanwork quiet during fanmeets. Things started slowly changing for worse when talk show hosts like Jim Kimmel/Fallon started bringing fanart... character art (primarily for slash-ships, as we called them) but using actor faces, on their show to "confront" the actors as a joke and suddenly, it was like the delulu shippers were given a validation. And eventually, that closed-kept secret was like the industry staple, and making fun of fanart changed to encouraging shipping to promote a show...and the ships changed from characters to actors.

Even now, I go out of my way to avoid knowing anything about actor's personal lives apart from whatever is very publicly available. I truly hope actors keep speaking up like Yin, because it's about time this nonsense faded out.

I agree with this person. I have the same issue with kpop/idol industry. Yes, the fans are wrong for being delusional and crossing boundaries, but you can't completely blame them when the industry itself is rooted in selling the delusion.

Depends on the management, I guess. There's exactly one actress I can guess uses her own clothes because they are pretty high-class and better fitting, but I have feeling she is a nepo-kid. Pretty much everyone wears those ugly bargain livestream leftovers. But, like you said, they seem to be dressing her better in the recent dramas.

Can't really blame the productions tbh. Physically, I'm about the same size as her, and it's only recently that I have started finding "GOOD" clothes in my size which don't break my bank account (I shop at 6XL btw, and my measurements are 48-45-50). Not like they didn't make clothes for fat people earlier, but when I was growing up, I either wore my mom's clothes or wore those ugly tent-thingies that made me look like a middle-aged auntie. I pretty much exclusively wore men's jeans and tshirts. Thankfully, things are changing now lmao.

But, coming back to these c-dramas, they are generally low-budget productions which share sets and costumes with other teams. Most actresses have similar sizes, so they buy these clothes in bulk with standard measurements. Therefore, for actresses whose body shape doesn't fit the norm, they have to go out of the way to arrange for costumes which might increase the production cost. So, they will buy the cheapest thing available since it won't be reused by others.
