I am being negative, I have dropped it after 4 episodes. Still came here to check if it's getting better but comment…
I haven't seen the drama but I read the spoiler that Heesu starts moving towards SW after Chanyoung and Jiyu get together, which is exactly what the author DIDN"T want.

Heesu chooses SW in comic BECAUSE he is Seungwon, not because he was somebody available after Heesu got rejected by his crush. Chanyoung is very much a playboy having multiple girlfriends, and Heesu is fine with it, because he never expects to come of it. In fact, most of the time Heesu is his wingman, which where the rumour of his love advice comes from - because he has fixed Chanyoung and his other friends with girlfriends.

Which is why Seungwon is so important for him. Because Heesu was the "listener"/therapist for his friend-group, but Seungwon is HIS listener. He can talk things with Seungwon that he can't even with his closest friends. He does get jealous and upset about Jiyu, but that's because he thinks she is having a thing with Seungwon, not Chanyoung.

Heesu has 3 sisters with a large gap (the oldest is 33 in the webtoon) and both parents. Seungwon has lesbian moms, and an estranged dad (who isn't in the picture). The main reason Heesu starts confiding in SW in the manga is BECAUSE he has lesbian moms, which is Heesu's first interaction with an adult same-sex couple. He was fine having a closeted crush on his best friend until he saw that "people like him" can be out and in open relationships with other people of same sex, like Seungwon's moms, and that Seungwon doesn't think homosexuals are weird or disgusting because he has lesbian moms.

This plays a huge part in his journey towards self-acceptance and in his love story with Seungwon.

Seriously. I'd rather not have them, and keep the IP as is, so new fans can find and enjoy the original work, rather than making an adaptation just to shit on it.

Oh, I'm not going to watch it at all. I was planning to wait and binge. It aired 8th ep today, so I just came to check how many eps are left. Checked the comments for heck of it and they turned me off the drama. So, that chapter is closed. Now I'm not gonna bother...

I haven't seen the drama yet. SW's moms are big part of the plot which is why I asked. I don't think I even bother with this drama anymore.

Hey, I am reading the comments and even checked the cast list but I see only one of Seungwon's moms? Did they straight-wash the most important part of his character?

guys since i did not read webtoon can you tell me webtoon like liveaction has a lot of straight scenes or not…
Chanyoung has a steady girlfriend offscreen (though there are hints of him being bi-leaning. He makes a cameo in the author's other webtoon with his boyfriend, few years later). Jiyu is just a friend/wingman, nothing more. I don't see any comments about Seungwon's moms (he has openly lesbian moms, which is why Heesu started confiding in him in the first place).

Simply put, the webtoon is about a mob character who's entire identity is "shoujo male lead's childhood friend" becoming a main character of his own story, as he goes from "chanyoung's best friend" to "Heesu in Class 2".

The webtoon is really worth-reading, though I didn't really care for the 2nd couple (in Volume 2, after Heesu and Seungwon basically became a boring old-married couple).

(adding on to what you said) and even if you didn't read the original source material (like me), you can definitely…
I haven't seen the drama yet, I always wait to binge but going by the comments I can tell you exactly why the original fans are mad. It's not just because they introduced a straight pair. The novel is basically about a mob character, Heesu, who's entire existence and identity is "Chanyoung's friend who has a crush on him". Chanyoung is your typical male lead in any shoujo manga, Heesu is a stereotypical sidekick that just exists to elevate the main character.

But this is HIS story. The author specifically went out of her way to avoid talking about Chanyoung other than most basic, because she didn't want him to overshadow Heesu (literally says that in the author's note at end of season 1). Everything we know about Chanyoung in the comic relates back to Heesu, including his sexual orientation. Chanyoung himself has a line in the webtoon when he realises Seungwon has a thing for Heesu, "You finally met someone who will make you the main character of your own story". Which is his biggest motivation for being the Seungwon's wingman along with Jiyu.

The story is purely about Heesu and Heesu alone, and how he overcame his crush on his best friend and found his forever love. Adding any other love story to it is simply doing disservice to the OG work.

there is apparently one more adaptation with the same plot, but I can't find it anywhere. If you were come across…
no worries... they upload the same video on different channels under different names, so it's easy to get confused.

^^ that's Reach for the Stars, the one on this page. There's another drama with the same plot called Out of Control Starlight, starring Duan Mei Ying. AND there's a 3rd one, which I don't know anything about.

I am looking for that 3rd one.

Instead of removing the 2nd BL couple from the manhwa they could've added a 2nd GL couple but no everything in…
I am re-reading the manga, and the whole point of the story is that Chanyoung, the eternal main character, wants his best friend, whose entire identity is "Chanyoung's childhood friend who has a crush on him", to be "Heesu", the hero of his own story (like that's literally his line in the manga). Even in the author's corner after s1, the author specifically said she chose to name the comic "HEESU in Class 2" because she wanted Heesu, who is a mob character, to have a story of his own.

Meanhwhile, Chanyoung has an offscreen gf, and there are hints of him being bi-leaning, he and his boyfriend even made an appearence in another comic by the same author (set a few years later), so making him be straight (which is NOT what the author intended, because he is specifically supposed to be "Q'uestioning" his identity through a series of girlfriends and Heesu) is a disservice to the original work.

"Like they white wash their skin" I'm dead lmfao. I actually thought that they're gonna do something about a girl…
They made an apprearence in that Twin manga by the same author, but I don't remember exactly which chapter. I am re-reading Heesu in Class 2, and Chanyoung is most definitely bi-curious/bi-leaning here.

Or rather, the only reason he is so rabidly straight in Heesu, is because his family is extremely "traditional" (read homophobic), and he was "outed" by his asshole brother for looking up mlm (men loving men) - when he figured Heesu out, so it makes sense if he "experimented" or relearned about himself in college, after he was out of their influence.

3 sisters, parents haven't made an appearance or been mentioned that I recall
like I said, they are probably like parents in Disney shows. They exist (alive and breathing), otherwise it would be a part of the character (Heesu has dead parents and lives with sisters) but since the drama is about Heesu and his friends, and not family, they aren't important and thus, not shown. Heesu's sisters are a part of narrative because they are the reason he is so good at giving love advice (in the webtoon, I haven't seen the show).

the fact they aren't even together in the webtoon. Chanyoung has a series of girlfriends in the manga, though I was kinda rooting for the girl who looked very similar to Heesu (because she seemed genuinely sweet ) and Jiyu is just a friend. I kinda shipped them, but was also glad they didn't end together because u need some platonic couples as well.
