Probably because Kawi is for intents and purposes "straight". Being with Piseang is an anomaly that happened only because of the crystal ball. Also, he is probably nervous about being on the bottom. I dont think he is ace either, but he could be a gray-ace or a demi.

Being a demi, would explain why he is comfortable with the skinship once he gets over that psychological barrier.

It's not that regular gay for you trope. Kawi really seems to struggle with his identity because while he identifies as straight, the ball always keeps showing him somehow ended with a man. And not just any man, but specifically the fiance of the girl he has been in love with for over 10 years.

Kawi knows that whatever happens he will always end up between Pear and Piseang, but in most cases they all end up fucking miserable because he loves Pear, Pear loves Piseang, and P loves him. Except in the first life where he was completely out of the picture so Pear and P ended up together. So, with that as end point, he has to make decisions so that somehow he gets to the results shown (him and Piseang) without screwing up everyone else's futures.

God I hope that public rejection by both Pear and Kwan was enough to get him on the right track, but with these kinda guys, it's hard to tell

There are quite a lot of stories where it works. In fact Idol*fan is one of the most common tropes in romcom in general. But like above said, they need to stop idolization and embrace the reality for it to work.

Ah. Dude, go and watch now. All USA network buddy cop dramas. nothing beats the classics. Nut they are american procedurals, so of course there is romance. But bromance is always top tier.
