Yes, they do split up for 5 years. It is from episode 50 to episode 55. However, there is a good reason for the…
thank you that’s actually really helpful. at least their breakup has good meaning and i assume they’ll come to realize their mistakes when they get back together
I'm watching this rn and I'm on episode 40. i accidentally skipped to episode 50 and watched a few minutes of it. shaoshang's cousins/sisters get married and have children, and this older-looking zishen fights in a war. there's a flashforward 5 years later, and the empress tells Shaoshang she hopes she gets married someday and has kids... now I'm scared to continue to watch, bc that means Zishen and Shaoshang split up...?
if anyone has already finished watching, can you tell me if that's true, and if it is, how long they'll be separated? try not to give other detailed spoilers- please and thank you :)

I personally didn't like this drama. So tbh, this drama isn't worth your time if you like more romantic scenes. This drama will make u a little angry (only bc the leads don't end up together bc of dumb reasons). Based on what you seem to like, I don't suggest you watch it. But in the end, it's your choice - it's sorta the fact that the plot is so long and draggy without a decent result

It's really weird lol. So the leads don't end up together, but they aren't against each other. Ig you can say they still feel something for each other, they just decide to not follow that mindset Hope that helps explain :)
actually i agree too being weilong's fan i am disappointed in this drama
@sadu Yes, I am too Jelly and Wei Long (two amazing actors) finally got to be put together in a drama, yet their collab and efforts were wasted bc of the storyline :(
I looked, apparently it’s supposed to be on IQIYI, but idk what happened to it. Maybe it’s because it was on YouTube for free once it started streaming then as it became popular the program decided to make money off watchers or smt

The main reason why I didn't like this drama was because...believe it or not, the main leads didn't even end up together at the end. That was one of the big parts for me that really threw this drama under the bus. Yes, it was a happy ending, but the leads only had a "romantic scene" (kiss) once, out of all 50 episodes, and it wasn't even a kiss.
I know some people may like this drama, but personally, I didn't. Honestly, it's such a waste for these main leads. I love the cast, but it's so unfortunate they were put together in this storyline. The drama was pretty draggy and there were wayy too many misunderstandings. I did really like the female lead's personality though. She wasn't easy to manipulate, but in a way, easy to be fooled.
It's hard to say whether I would recommend anyone to watch this, since it really depends on what style you like. (Look at the common below to see an ending spoiler with important info as to why I didn't like this drama)
Ok, but props to second female lead (the "enemy" in the drama), Xu Ah Li. Her acting was crazy good. She made me so mad at her, but that's because she was doing her job.

But at least there won't be any "possessiveness" for Tan Er ig.
Can't wait to see him more in future dramas!
Many actors are the same way.
Thank you!
Go Ahead was already more than two years ago :(
Wei Long is so talented <3
Hope that helps explain :)
