Because of the age gap and type of story this is, with the scenes expected and in the trailers (grabbing her, falling on top, etc), I will sit this one out :( (and Neo looks so good in this too!). I feel bad for Neo Hou and how much backlash he is getting for just doing a job he signed onto first I can see why he was attracted to the role, and for the life of me I can't understand why they cast a young FL, when if they cast a age-matching FL they could have had some amazing chemistry and intimate scenes, since this story seems darker. It's too uncomfortable with how young Ai Mi is (and I think she's an incredible actress). It's not just that she is young, its that she also looks so young it looks wrong on screen too. Even though Neo Hou is very young looking at nearly 30, the pairing does not work. Neo Hou and Ai Mi are professionals, but the production should not have cast them together in a role like this. The industry really doesn't take care of their actors at all.
there are so many actresses who are in the same age range as neo, and yet they decided to pair a 17-year-old with a man who is nearly 30. It’s disappointing because it could have been a good storyline, but instead they do this. and the fact that many viewers will still accept and romanticize this choice makes it even more frustrating. 😬
we aren't attacking the actors, whoever casted them is the problem. btw they don't have to kiss for it to be weird. i saw some scenes from the trailer and even them being so close and acting romantic stuff is weird. of course no one will force you to not watch it, do what you want but what are y'all actually trying to justify? it's a minor and an adult doing a romance drama. weird enough.
I have more of an issue with people trying to justify this with "the adults consented to cast this minor." Adults consenting to something on behalf of minors would never be equal to minors growing up to understand the weight of a situation that an adult put them through. Age and mentality gaps between romantic leads have always been a hot debate throughout history. And let's keep this in mind: Just because certain things are normalized, it doesn't equate to being ethical. Not so long ago, teenage brides were normalized and considered "consensual" on both parties, so now what? The argument of consent, when one of them is a minor and having their decisions made for them, doesn't help defend your faves. Let's not try to make people who have the right to question and worry about the situation sound crazy or out of touch when there have been several situations in the entertainment industry where young stars have experienced some form of trauma because of how mature their roles were, especially romantic roles. Just like how some of you guys may argue, "you don't know about the entertainment industry, how would you know these actresses and actors aren't protected?", people are also going to argue, "how would you know that they are being protected?" We don't know what's going on, and personally, I'd rather see adults play love interests than have minors play love interests with adults under the excuse of "they need to further their career."
Some of you guys need to stop misdirecting you're anger towards the actors and actresses when there's already a contract signed. On the other hand, some of you guys need to stop finding excuses to defend the act of casting minors with adults when playing romantic leads, especially if this is done to defend your faves. Obviously, this is weird; people are going to make loud responses and boycotts to let the industry know that they (the audience) don't support this. This isn't specifically to target anyone's faves; this boycott response could be towards any actress, actor, company, or production team.

BOLD. Secondly, I'm fully agreeing with FL like IF THEY COULD, THEY WOULD. If they had the privellege and experiences the FL had, they wouldn't chose to follow the ideal womanly domestic life being shoved down their throats by society. It still appiles to the modern world. The writing here and other instances of female empowerment was laid on thick and preachy like they are in all these chinese female empowerment dramas but, I'm still so glad they didn't lean into "she's not like other girls" theme and chose to let the FL call him out.
Just finished the drama. Too many delusional people. I thought Chu Zhao would redeem himself but the last few episodes, he pretty much went down a rabbit hole with his obsession. I did enjoy LOFG because of the chemistry and romance bits between the leads.
