I had to rewatch this properly but here's kinda what I could translate:

YM Yue explains it in episode 16. It's in fact a tonic. But the initial symptoms felt are because majority of the ingredients to make it are poisons except for the Kuxin grass which is a slow working antidote.

The poisonous materials close the meridian lines in the leg and arm which basically means the internal power felt gets directed between the lungs/heart and that opens up other extraordinary meridian lines which in fact, enhances your internal skills. However, one of the poisons - the beetle brain is extremely lethal. One way to combat that is to take it boiled because it's affected by tempt, and if taken as such, it actually is a good medicinal tonic. But despite that, you'll still experience some loss of power because of it's true nature of being so lethal and combined with the other poisons.

Kuxin grass is added to slow the process of detoxifying which when combined with the ingredients takes around half a month - which is why the girls always had to meet every half a month to get the 'antidote'. So when the toxins are detoxified, you return to your normal self.

So in other words...wufeng used it as 'poison' to control the girls and made sure that they didn't betray them.

I find that theory super interesting - about YQ wanting to tell her sister and then getting caught. A part of me wonders if she self sacrificed herself. Like how YWS got flashbacks of her raven saying that as a last resort, she must end it..and why she was reaching out for the knife incase she blurted any secrets out.

IF she did get caught and killed, then how did YM Yue get the body out and back to wufeng? I'm still suspecting that the body in the trailer/music videos of YWS crying over is her sister. So a bit odd that YM Yue would send her back. I'm sure YQ would have told him everything before she 'died'.

But I had suspected SJ's subordinate to also be YQ - I wonder if he's been apprehensive of believing SGQ because he had once fallen for YQ and he knows not to do it again?

YAS. SO glad our ML has learnt to put some clues together, and I'm sure he's not daft.. he's suspecting something deep down inside which I'm sure will lead to YWS to tell him the truth and then they work it out together..

so in short, yes. She's technically 'cured'.

But there was a scene of her crying over a body back in wufeng. I assume something of the past or a scene we're about to see.. My initial thought was that could have been her, assuming no one made it out alive from the gong mission.

I had the same suspicion, judging by her expression, her instant thought is "how do you have this bracelet"? which makes me feel she'll grow suspicious of him and how he's connected to to YQ.

And judging by a potential (What looks to be) happy ending scene from the music video, I feel like she'd choose the first option you had.

She's not. She never said she was a biological sister - YWS has always referred to her as her godsister. I'm pretty sure, but I could be wrong. She never called her 'Qin Mei'.
