Interesting! I see some validity in some of your points. Especially the part about the hair. I’m still confused between the kid and who’s older and what not. That whole connection doesn’t make sense in my head 😅

It reminds me alot of Yin Yang Masters, I remember thinking the same that it was going round and round and then eventually all the questions got answered.

Yeah that part sucked. But even when they initially got chosen and was hinted what could happen to them during the mission at the very first episode or so, you could see the concern and remorse he had. I think he had always regarded YWS and her sister to be like his daughters. Secretly looking out for them but having to discipline them for the clan.. it’s a job after all but I think he grew sentimental for them at times.

In some ways the plot is proving to be somewhat predictable in the sense that we’ll likely see our main heroine do something out of the ordinary for him whether that’s to save him or help him when she shouldn’t.. but how it’ll end is still undetermined and I think we might get surprised there!

I’ll admit.. for a VERY split second I thought the same about him cross dressing 😂 but then quickly realised how stupid that would be. Though your theory of lady lan could be right but is there an age gap? He seems rather young. My brain went straight into thinking that he provided a refuge for his lover- be it YWS sister or lady lan. But only those going for the trial would know of the place which made me think it’s the sister as the hint about her possibly being SJ subordinate would make sense.

What I also noticed though, was how thorough YWS’s raven was with her. To think, everything was covered in her training for ppl that can’t seem to penetrate the gong residence easily. Seems a bit odd. It’s nice to see he had a father figure vibe to her. I kinda wish we saw more of her growing up with him and her sister.

Where is the novel btw? Does it follow closely?

1) most impressed at their performance- please no screen time BS, they had plenty these last two episodes. Gotta love a bit of a self sacrifice moment to heighten the romance. I choked up a little when she cried. 🙊

2) THE DISCOVERY OF THE POISON- LIKE OMG! 😱 I can’t believe they’ve been lied to all this time!

3) I hope YSW doesn’t get the wrong idea thinking elder Yue was responsible or had something to do with her sister’s death after finding the bracelet, do you think she finds out that they could have been lovers given his whole spiel about being alone?

4) SECOND OMG- Shang jue’s subordinate during the trials was YWS sister, right?! 😱😱 or did I just misinterpret that?

5) so is it cheating if he used the same trick? 😂 or is that him being smart. I can’t tell if I should applaud him for being cheeky but resourceful.

6) our ZY is finally putting the pieces together judging by him finding the room and the bracelet and based on YWS expression. am I right? but also to the MDL fan that hinted about elder Yue being part of wufeng early on… you were onto something then! guess it’s no surprise now. but what’s his position? or suspected position? is he wufeng or not?

LOVE LOVE LOVE that we’re seeing him get a lot more witty and that he’s figuring things out on his own. Also love that we’re seeing their relationship be put to the test. you know it’s good when you can finish his sentence… “最重要的人” 😂👌🏻 like how did I know he was going to say that. 🙃

I beg to differ. 9/10 a character starts of weak to allow for character growth. you’re only halfway through and there’s small breakthroughs- take his martial arts for instance. He barely practiced as a child and now he’s able to pull off his fight scenes on his own.

Yes SJ has the cold overbearing demeanour but not every main lead in a drama is like that.

I still stand by the fact that we’ve just not yet seen the full potential his character will have.

there’s a video that someone had released and I think it’s on iqiyi’S official YouTube site about the family tree and they explain that the elders are like the ‘investors’ of the Gong family if you treated the Gong family like a company. They’re like your board members that have a share in it and so their decisions are important.
