I didn't really enjoy the movie. It has good cinematography, nice soundtrack but it was such a slow burn in a bad way. I love Minami but I have to say that her acting here just doesn't connect with me. I only watched this for her but it was a bit of a torture because of the plot and pacing. I think Riko did a much better job in her role but I think the problem more with Riko is making her presence more felt. Takumi and Eiji were okay. But for Eiji, I can't feel enough of his fondness of Minami's character. Or maybe that's what his character is supposed to be like? Anyway, this is something I could only watch once.
I really love this live action adaptation!!! I watched it right after watching the anime and I must say it was able to capture everything that I felt about the anime. The only thing that seems to be off in this drama are the scenes with Nana Eikura and the guy. It just seems out of place. But the main story itself was more than enough!
This is my jam and my kind of humor!! "Kyou Kaya Ore Wa" has been receiving much more love but "Aoi Honoo" remains to be one of my top tier Fukuda Yuichi works. It perfectly captures the thoughts and insecurities of an artist towards his rivals in the same field. Honoo is so relatable in many ways. He's my spirit animal lol! You can also get to know how mangakas view the famous animators and fellow manga creators. Great acting from the cast, awesome script. Highly recommended!
A lot of people are praising this movie but it fell way below my expectations. The way it was directed reminds me of those emo rock bands' music videos way back. Everything felt too romanticized that I couldn't empathize with it at all!
If you're a fan of Ryusei, this is a must see!!! There are a lot more action sequences here than Your Eyes Tell. His karate skills were put more to a test :3
Nana Seino is also an amazing in action! I wish they'll work for another action project with a better storyline.
I watched this at a film festival. My gahd, didn't expect that it was so tragic! I love Yasuda Ken but after watching this film, my image of him was ended up devastating XD But much respect for him as an actor! The Filipino actors are really good too! Just that the theme is a bit icky.
Ryusei and Minami's chemistry is no joke! Weirdly enough, the insane plot and theme of the drama worked for them. This drama is strangely addictive even if the plot doesn't make sense at all. It's crazy. They're crazy. I guess I'm crazy to love it too XD
I really love the concept of this drama and it started it out really great until after episode 3, I just feel that the development of the story from then on felt somewhat lacking. I also think Mukai's character was poorly written. They didn't do him justice. *sigh*
And as much as I love Ryusei, it's Haruna who stood out for me in this drama. Her acting sure improved so much from the last time I saw her. She's really good! Maybe I just don't like Ryusei's character, Shun. He activates his passive-aggressiveness at the worst timings, which turns me off that it offsets his good qualities as a sweet, handsome chef XD But I must say that the way Shun dealt with his trauma was realistic. Though the drama also turned out a bit preachy in the latter episodes. I guess I was just expecting more since a lot of people have been raving about it.
Regardless, it was still an enjoyable drama that's perfect for this pandemic season ~ in time for the food truck boom and the time when most people heavily depend on social media to seek validation. I believe that's the major appeal of this drama. As for Ryusei and Haruna's chemistry, it's good but lacks impact for me. Maybe I'm looking for more contrast since both of them are good looking and have model-like features. I wish one of them isn't too perfect. I couldn't relate XD
I dare say this is one of Fukuda Yuichi's masterpieces (besides Aoi Honoo). This is my kind of humor that it's now my comfort drama!! I love it XD
