Moon Lovers is korean remake of Chinese novel (the series also) by Tong Hua. But korea adapted it into their own version with their own history. It takes place in Goryeo era because they need many princes and it actually happened in Wang Geon Taejo reign of early Goryeo dynasty. So 70% of Moon Lovers elements is still can be traced in history especially their game of thrones and marriages. I dont say its historically very accurate like documentary, even Queen Seondeok and Dong Yi also have fictional and drama element, but no one denied, they are based on historical events and facts.

Lol dont try to teach myself about historical dramas. Bloody Heart is still full fictional drama. Its not based on real historical events. After King Sungjong, there is no other kings. Its Japanese occupation era in the real timeline lol I watched almost all historical korean dramas since 2010. So I know most of Joseon sageuks is all about political center. If you wanna say fresh then Mr Queen is the most "fresh" among Joseon dramas. Some people here also said the story was predictable but they enjoyed it. It means its not really "fresh" like no previous drama had the same formula. Full fledged sageuk? Sooo many historical kdramas in Joseon era who has political center, strategy based and game of thrones without much fluffy and romance elements such as Deep Rooted Tree, My Country New Age, Secret Door, etc. And its all based on real historical events. Historical wrapper? Sorry I DONT agree. Moon Lovers and Hwarang are still based on historical timeline and facts. Especially Moon Lovers, its not even about sugar, the game of thrones there are recorded in Goryeo history lol I know most of historical records for Korea from three kingdoms era, Goryeo, and Joseon. Also, quit or not, its my decision, not yours.

Yes but their accents are different in each chinese regions. For example, hongkong and taiwan mandarin accent is different with national standard mandarin accent. The tone is really important in mandarin. Thats why c-drama use dubbing actors with ability to speak national standard mandarin accent.

Hi i wanna ask some questions. AvenueX told everyone in her channel about the new rules of dubbing from china NRTA. And she also mentioned several times in the live streaming that Xu Kai, Ren Jia Lun and Wang He Di must use dubbing and they cant use their own voice in the drama because they are not capable to speaking mandarin properly. Hmmmm can someone explain to me why AvenueX said so because when I hear Xu Kai and Ren Jia Lun interview and bts, their mandarin is still okay for me. Lol actually whats wrong with them? Yesterday there is two GL dramas in MDL upcoming list, but its from tiktok drama. Not big productions that required to be submitted to censorship. MDL better change the poster with the new one. Tencent, iQiyi, Youku only make straight love story between man-woman and BL drama with censor version (Bromance).

Yes. You should watch it. I noticed your prof pict is Love and Redemption. I guess you also loved chinese period costume drama. Then, yes, Scarlet Heart Ryeo is definitely suited you. It has chinese drama formula with many handsome princes and romance with game of thrones. No old ministers. Dont worry.

Basically, Moon Lovers is still the best of korean sageuks. It will reminds you of chinese historical drama. No talk and more actions. Because its set in early of Goryeo dynasty and its all about romance and game of thrones between princes. They fight with swords and etc. Thats because ministers are only the assistant of the King, not become so influential like Joseon. Thats why Joseon had sooooo many talking scenes between court and ministers. Secret Door and The Red Sleeve are also the same, too much talking between ministers. But at least, The Red Sleeve is better. I hope there is more Joseon dramas like Mr Queen, its fresh and funny. But still, I prefer Moon Lovers and other dramas from Three Kingdoms era (Hwarang, River when the moon rises, etc). You should try Moon Lovers first.

I already watched most of the sageuks including The Princess Man. TPM is good but too much talking about politics. I skipped many parts of political talking and just watch for the main leads. I still understand what the story and their politics coz I also read King Sejo actual history...

I wanna ask, this is so political and game of throne center story? Like usual Joseon drama? With old aged man were gathering and discussed about politics and strategy? Thats why I always prefer sageuk drama that had setting in Goryeo and Three Kingdoms (Silla, Goguryeo, Baekje) like Moon Lovers and Hwarang. They did more actions than only talking. Note : I already watched most of historical korean dramas.
