Not really a third wheel. He basically has great Chemistry with Bai Ying (FL), Na Zheng (2FL - Zhen Lan's suppose endgame before the author decided to change his partner to Bai Ying) and Xi Jing (his general). His character is really interesting and challenging in the novel tho.

An underrated actor who don't get enough recognition for his acting skills, voice (台词) and action scenes + look (some said he look ordinary)

Hello, no one discuss about Gu Feng'En? I was like damn it!

Yes. He died tragically but beautifully ?

Gu Feng En always wanted to be a scholar and serves the country in Palace instead of becoming a general who fights in the battlefield. King took away his name from scholarship therefore he can never work in the Palace + couldn't assists Xiao Ding Quan, he decided to serves in military for his cousin brother. Now, he wishes his son will inheritate his will. Unfortunately, we are not sure if his wife and son will survive or not because the king wants to kill off the entire Gu Clan. His father's death was a plot by King and 5th Prince too.

It's always a sad ending but beautiful

Youku and I paid for it. I've read the novel in Chinese. This drama is meant to be tragic. I'm glad it's a great closure because my fav character Gu Feng'En had the same fate in the novel.

Finished 12 episodes and I'm crying.. Thank you for the great closure.

It has rebellious plots and sensitive contents such as student protest, commit suicide etc. Very real situation based on China history but difficult to accept it. Good thing is another 12 deleted episodes will be release soon. They still sensored a lot, the drama was 80 90++ episodes initially but cut until 60 released episodes + 12 deleted episodes soon to be release.

No offend but male lead acting skills save the illogical parts of the drama and it deserves at least 8.3 and above.

In the novel Chu Yue told Xue Yao, I don't want to be in comatose state forever, please allow me to have voluntary euthanasia. I'll repay your love in next life. Damn, sorry Xue Yao, I've misunderstood you. You've been having hope for few years and I'm glad Chu Yue is awake.
PS: He didn't plan to commit suicide with FL at the cliff, he was recalling the memories he had with her during the snake bite moments, it's the same cliff. Damn MangoTV for cutting off the scenes?

I'm not sure why the mark drops. It deserves 8.3 and above. This drama wrapped up filming in May and airs in Jul, the team did a great job at such a short time. Male lead uses his own dubbed voice and seldom use body stunt due to his martial art background, female lead being professional and both ML + FL contributed lots of difficult positions and hugs/carry/etc. All the side characters are lovely and interesting. This drama shows they've put on efforts although their budget is lower than 90% of the competitive dramas in Jul-Sep 2020. Thank you to the entire TSP team!

You're too good at crying scenes.

Shameless, the casts were speechless. The scenes shown in the opening and ending theme songs are the real and original scenes from drama. There's no way epilogue / extra scenes are taken from original scenes, MangoTV is too much. I'll still love TSP tho.
