I'd like to commend the music director for providing an appropriate instrumental score and no songs, which allowed the entire cast of actors to ACT. The idea that brilliant actors need songs to convey what their characters are feeling is ridiculous, insulting, and annoying.
Currently watching this show and if you get that it's a satire on k-drama production and the people involved, it's really hilarious. Interesting to me (at least) that in both this show and Be Melodramatic, the female writer is totally neurotic.
i Just want to thank this dramma for talking and, somehow, showing the reality of people with mental illnesses…
This drama and Sell Your Haunted House seem to be the sort of socially conscious projects that we can expect from Jang Nara from now on. She has my deepest respect for taking on projects that aren't the romantic comedies that made her a k-drama star, but which are meaningful to her and that might help others who are victims of prejudice, inequality, and institutional corruption. In addition, her acting is off the charts!
All I can say is that there'd BETTER BE ANOTHER SEASON, because the 1st ends with a cliffhanger to end all cliff hangers. Great writing, btw. I binge-watched and was enthralled from start to finish.
Jang Nara's My Happy Ending takes on the Korean tabu of talking about one's mental health issues--and even when famous celebrities in the k-entertainment world commit suicide because they've had to remain silent, viewers of this drama, who live in other countries, just don't get it.
The summary is perfect ;DIt's just like in the novel. I wonder how they are going to translate it on to the screen…
If it was Korean they'd open with that sequence in cute animation, which would be hilarious, and then transition to live-action. But having watched about 25 historical-fantasy c-dramas by now, I think they might use some creative editing and show it in live-action. Anyway, I love the 2 leads and can't wait to watch it.
" On the way to escape from the marriage, Shen Li was beaten back to the original form of a phoenix and fell to the world with injuries. When she was seriously injured and comatose, the mortal hawker treated her as a fat chicken, plucked all the hair from her body, and locked her in a cage for sale."

Ah! Haven't seen MHE yet, but from the clips I've seen and comments I've read, the OTT plotting DEMANDS the suspension of disbelief--which isn't a problem for me, especially if it provides Nara with the opportunity to really let loose.

Last two? I agree that Family was a mess thanks to an inexperienced director who didn't know how to communicate with the equally inexperienced writer. I suspect Nara took on that project because the director's projects as executive producer were winners and because fans were clamoring for a reunion with Jang Hyuk. But if you're saying that SYHH was a bad choice, I strongly disagree. IMO, it's a masterpiece .
She's amazing for ranking second in actor's brand reputation while starring in a drama with low viewership. Given…
She's reached the point in her career where she's all about improving her acting skills by taking on roles that are not the rom-com heroine that made her a household name, but truly complex, not always likable, roles. True fans applaud her choices, admire her for her dedication to her craft, and will buy anything she's selling.
WAIT... WHAAT?!
