Yihyun omagaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I'm half pissed and glad this finally came out. The bad part is that this drama released almost as the same date as my mid term exam...

I will also check it out, but I guess I'll have to lower my expectations.

But right at the end of the final episode, Xun'er confessed her feelings.

In the live action if I remembered correctly, almost no romance interactions (maybe only slight, and that's only Yi Xian and Xun'er). Just a little jealously here and there, from Xun'er tho... Yi Xian on the other hand makes him her "husband" caused by a desperation attempt from XIao Yan to stop her from killing herself/dying with the crystal lion (or whatever it is... I forgot ;']). With Medusa on the other hand, yes. They met, she showed little interest and he became the King of the Snake Clan if I remember correctly. But NOPE it hasn't gone as spicy as in the 3d anime.

I think the fact that the ML and FL and also other core SLs are not returning to S2 (which I suppose a lot of people are waiting for in the comments) is much more pissed-worthy ;']

finished it, loved it, rewatched it, found out that season 2 has different actors and actresses playing it, hated it, accepting it, and now waiting for it.

2. Ep 8 = Starting the sparks, Ep 9 = I think she confessed, if I remember correctly Ep 10 they become a couple.
3. No (well technically JYJ and KSY broke up, but they are a fake CP so...)
4. I mean I would count it as a happy ending, so yea. (My Happy Ending Criteria = Marry, get kids. But having all of them happy and finally resolving the problem is also acceptable.)

IDK why I delayed so much to watch this. Oh I remembered,
1. A lot of people have been saying that this drama is bad? I mean personally (IDK if I'm biased since I really like CYH) I agree that the story might seem boring because of a few things... And I heard that it doesn't live up to it's expectations so I refrained myself from watching this. But personally, I don't think that the story is that bad, only a few parts seems bland but each episode personally has something that gives me curiosity so that I am motivated to continue watching it.
2. I thought that CYH was not the main female lead, so at first I didn't want to watch it. But after watching some clips and seeing that she was indeed the main female lead, I decided to give it a try.

Some things you might want to know before you think I'm just giving my opinion since I like CYH,
1. I didn't watch any of the other School dramas. Well technically I tried watching School 2017 but since I didn't really like it I dropped it.
2. I really like the romance here, even though it's building up pretty slowly (I mean some dramas you need to watch much much longer to see the romance bits) they really show sincere love towards each other. Also note, no toxicity or anyone trying to disrupt their romance.

Why I think you should give it a go,
1. I mean... don't read people's comments/reviews too much. If you want to try it then go ahead, since personally I think it's worth the watch.
2. Since there's Cho Yi Hyun ;]

I mean... she said it herself. If Yang" was the one that was proposed to, she wouldn't worry about it? (If I remember it correctly??) I mean the LBY and the emperor personally I don't think did anything wrong. LBY's status was a general that the king treats as his own son, making his status similar or even higher that the princes'. We all saw that when LBY "showed" his interest in CSS, the emperor who at that time had a hard time to find a partner for his "son" was elated to hear that he finally has a potential partner. So of course he would do anything he can to "ship" them and potentially get them married. So when LBY proposed to her, the emperor, who at that time acted as his elder, immediately went to the parent's side to get their consent. NORMALLY every parent or even official can't refuse an imperial order/something that the emperor has given, but they went out of their way to reject the proposal by at first risking their careers and went on to degrade... their own daughter? Logically, if we were in her universe... CSS just declined a betrothal and that itself can lower her chances to get another suitor. But your own mother... doing that in the palace?? Not to mention those who like to gossip and bully her were also present. I mean THAT was what made me mad. But still.. I'm waiting to see if the mother redeems herself and truly shows that she "cares" for her deep down.

I mean I just personally felt annoyed by this since if I was in her position damn.... I would feel like literal s*** and have literal zero self-esteem after the palace incident. But I still have hope that she'll change and have a good relationship with CSS in the later episodes. Cuz I'm literally just waiting for 2 things.
1. CSS & LBY romance scenes
2. XYY & CSS "emotional" mother & daughter interactions where they understand each other

Hopefully...

As I said... I know she cares for her. But the way she does it is unique. All of it is behind the scenes. IK that maybe later on in future episodes that her "good intentions" will be noticed by SS. But just these past 24 episodes I just... Really. Her aunt and empress are much more kind and motherly figures rather than her real and biological mother.

I just can't bring myself to like CSS's mother... I was beginning to like her when she "flogged" her and showed her worry and hidden care behind the scenes but... When LBY proposed to her she just roasted her in front of royalties, the king and queen, and even those who bullied her got to hear how sh**ty her life is. Like I know she actually "cares" for her and is worried for her future. But like why can't you just explain??? She still clearly shows her bias for Yangyang and doesn't bother clearing up the misunderstanding that she piled up this whole time. I know parents don't like to show that they care for you deep down but this is just getting ridiculous.

Personally since this is like... one of my first C-Drama that got me into watching more C-Dramas... When I saw your review I was shocked o.O
The cast is perfect (Yang" and Zheng Shuang), Yang" successfully portraited himself as a smart, handsome, kind, loyal, and basically successful male lead. No wonder that all the girls in the campus is crazy about him (note. Ofc this won't happen irl. No matter how smart, successful, or handsome you are, these kinds of reactions are over the top). Not only that, but he is also a cold guy who has never dated before (If i remember correctly) and rarely does sweet/romantic interactions with any girl. Personally I agree with you that the drama has no serious plot, but they successfully made it into a fluffy romantic drama (No toxic ex-s or anybody that forces themselves as someone's love partner) that includes an online RPG game that has a marry option. Personally about Yang" 's monotonous and coldness acting, I also find it annoying at times but my sister said that it makes him look even more cool. And I think what he was trying to portray in this drama is a cold and perfect guy finally finding his one love and chasing after her. About the rewatch value I might agree since this drama is a one time watch thing... The story can be like 7/10, Acting/Cast 8-9/10, Music is 10/10.
