I think this show is meant for us to be divided and ask where we stand in such situation.
Yohan is EVIL, his way is evil, I don't think much people argue with that, but in the world so evil no law will actually bring justice, he may be the only force that can tackle the other devil. Is he a hero? I don’t think so. Am I agreeing to all of his method? Nah, I disliked the public vote in the electrocution.
But the foundation shift blame all the time, kill anyone coming in their way, ffs the president will let out a real virus just to back up his lie. What should Yohan do? Searching for direct evidence that can’t be found bcs every high ranking people are corrupt? To bring the real monster down, Yohan doesn’t have much choice either. Yohan isn’t black and white villain, there’s a degree of selfishness in almost everyone involved, yet he’s the most transparent one, his method is not kindness.
Now on Soohyun bcs I think some misinterpret our protest. We dislike the president bcs he’s written to be hated, we dislike Soohyun character bcs she's a poorly written second female LEAD, not bcs she's righteous. 1) she was just plot device for Gaon's development, 2) she didn't see the forest for the trees, focusing on Yohan instead of the chaos. Even Jinjoo got better development ...
If the righteous people have a smarter way than Yohan, then do, but the writer just make them another obstacle for Yohan yet isn’t a big enough problem like the foundation, it makes them feels like a nuisance to the plot instead of hope.
p.s. I may be too fast to talk about Yohan though, there are still two eps left.
I'm still mad they killed soohyun like that, it was so stupid, Gaon is in his twenties and have a little bleeding, and Soohyun felt the need to to "omg, i need to save this helpless man". I can't comprehend this
I’m mad at the writer for soohyun’s character, she serves no purpose except for Gaon’s reason to live (and now desperation). She’s dead but I only feel pain bcs I feel Gaon’s pain, yet she’s the second female lead ...
I feel like this drama makes villain looks smart and powerful (for now). Make protagonists (like Ga On and Sun…
Actually, many good movie/book have the opposite formula, it's a three act formula where the protagonist almost win and then fail/lose smth miserably bcs the villain is one step forward, and the protagonist needs to work their way out the second time. It's what makes a good villain, and make us feel tense and root for the protagonist.
Also not apple to apple to compare this with Vincenzo, Vincenzo for a dark show is too light hearted for me. If this show go the Vincenzo way, it's gonna be messier. I actually wish Yohan failed so freaking bad in the half point, but at least we get it now.
if they showed Gaon & the priest scene in first quarter, it would make Gaon more interesting, that even though he questioned Yohan, he still saw him as a person and broken child
Okay can we talk about this show's problem with female characters? Other than Elijah that is. I'm enjoying the…
Yeah ... Sunah is supposed to be Yohan's equal rival (if not more powerful), but we saw much more Gaon's backstory and complexity than her. I'm fine if they wanna make her as true evil tho, but she isn't sinister enough, and god, she has so little screentime as the main antagonist
Jisung is the best thing that happened to this drama. The drunk scene, I can feel the pain in his eyes. Then the ending scene, he made a great entrance and act.
God, I disliked soohyun at the start of the episode, like who wouldn't think that could happen right? And not even "I'm sorry, please let him go, it's part of my fault too."
Hmm I want to watch this drama but I'm kinda uncertain about... Would someone please tell me their honest opinions…
Try to watch the first episode, if you like the tone, you should watch this drama. The pacing isn't the best at first but it gets better from there, also it gets more twisted/dark but there will be some light hearted scenes.
Also, you can look forward to Jisung's antihero character (the male lead) and the beautiful shots.
I don't really feel fond for Jinjoo's path. It's understandable she felt left out and that Yohan isn't the rightful judge as the public think he is, but getting manipulated by ambition is just ... eh? Maybe it was a shock to me as she was once an ambitious (in a good way), yet also the humble judge
I don't know why this episod of TDJ just reminds me of the conversation between Jack and Bedelia in nbc's Hannibal…
Glad I'm not the only one who is reminded of Hannibal as I watch this show. And the teaser for the next ep where Gaon chokes the conman reminds me of "Guns lack intimacy", I'm down for Gaon's destruction arc tbh
I think there are two types who were irritated by Ga On :1. The first type is irritated by him because he's so…
I am part of the 1st (or maybe 3rd). I was irritated by him on ep 5/6 because he changed his opinion again and again based on what people said. Yohan told him his story, he trusted Yohan; Elijah told him about the file, now he hated Yohan again. It would be fine for me if he was simply in turmoil or stayed doubtful until he got a solid proof, but his act towards Yohan kept switching, it was frustrating
