Yes, I love their scenes together. Very cute and loyal friendship.You can sense their bond even without subs. Reminds me of the bond between Changge and Leyan in TLB. The actors are able to portray that innate comfort and warmth that comes with long standing friendships really well. Their relationship doesn't seem forced or contrived in any way.

As I said in my earlier comment, my assertion is based on a few series clips that I've watched on YouTube. I don't understand Chinese nor have I read the novel. My opinion is based only on the actors' mannerisms and body language on screen. From the 7-8 scenes I've watched, I didn't sense any special connection between them . Again as I said in my previous comment, maybe understanding the dialogues and seeing their expressions in that context might help in seeing the connection you're talking about.

His name is Kong Ming. Going by the character poster, it will be an interesting and unique looking couple, the butterfly and the monk.

I sense some distance/wall between the leads. Even when they're the only two people in the frame, they don't seem connected in that way. I think the dialogues go a long way in creating that connect, maybe with the subs, it'll be easier to ship this couple.
