in their defense, I think BL webtoon and novel adaptations, like these, are trying to stay true to the original…
we're not talking about the production budget but the restrictions of adaptation because of author copyrights.
I'm an author myself, and a filming major as well. Even I understand the difference of the fantastucal style of novel stories in comparison to live actions.
A good portion of the novel needs to be altered and changed, in order to be satisfactory on screen.
Unfortunately not all authors are willing for such changes, but since production units will sometimes do everything they can to acquire the story into adaptation and raise viewership with the novel's or author's fanbase, they have to conform to the author's restrictions, in order to stay true to the novel's original version.

Also, apart from that, there's also censorship issues, not only in the local screening but also YT's censorship regulations (as they update in YT as well)
As a long time fujoshi, I already expected a lot of NC and love scenes to be fluffed up the moment I heard they will update the episodes on YT.

Also, KP's quality was no surprise giben that they literally had more than a yearvs worth of workshop due to unforeseeable problems... then their budget was no joke as well guven the investors they had after P'Mile stepped up with his own 9-digit investment, Maserati's sponsorship, and the 10 million baht P'Mile acquired from his "connections", as well as Be On Cloud's adoption of the entire project after P'Mile's relentless convincing.

It would be embarassing if they didn't present such quality after the all the investment the project recieved from one of thai industry's richest actor and heir of one of Thai's richest businessmen.

And it's not just making excuses. Because the restrictions are facts. Because in any country, filming restrictions, whether financially or technically, affect overall production. And it's not just in the BL trope but filmmaking in general.

It's not about making excuses, but acknowledging the effort they made into the filming all in all. The work of cast, the crew and over all production is not a joke no matter the output.
Criticism is ok, but to trash the series because it didn't meet the general expectations built by the trailer is unfair forhe people who worked hard for it.

To trash this series because the NC, the sex scenes and the bdsm wasn't presented the same as your personal fantasies is not right. What I'm trying to say is that criticism is supposed to point out the part that needs improvement. And not just simply pointing out the parts you are not satisfied with.
The actors are no less talented just because they cannot portray the explicit scenes the same way it does from your perspective, especially with such a niche genre as BDSM.

Give them the benefit of the doubt. And criticize for the sake of improvement and not for the sake of criticizing like a narcissistic viewer. That's unfair to the people who worked hard to re-animate the series.

in their defense, I think BL webtoon and novel adaptations, like these, are trying to stay true to the original…
I agree... TBH the Thai BL industry, and the Thai filming industry in general, have actually improved so much in terms of quality and content especially in the off-cam culture. Although there are still deplorable practices here and there, especially from older and well-known production companies. The newer productikn units have been improving so much and the work culture has been getting a little bit better.

I just want to look positively, especially, among the under-promoted serials and support the growth of the industry.
Also I kinda appreciate that this series is somewhat breaking out of the stereotypical tropes content-wise and expanding the niche genre with socially taboo topics like the BDSM culture. I mean, I do agree that the portrayal is slightly disappointing and lacked realism. But then I felt like this would've probably been how it would be, if animated from the book.

The cringiness and cheesy scenes just don't look right enacted by real humans, but if it was animated, it would've been portrayed the same, but would look a lot less awkward. Don't you think? (^w^)

I'm just being optimistic since it's the first ep and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt... especially since the precedent of KP's quality might have emphasized the weakness in the series a lot more than they, probably, would have expected.

While I realise a show like this would not go as far, if they want their BDSM to look realistic, they could at…
in their defense, I think BL webtoon and novel adaptations, like these, are trying to stay true to the original source that's way there's a fake feel to it and makes it less likely to have a form realism.
Unlike Playboy and Gang of Cherry, they were more adjusted in terms of script writing so there is free room to incorporate a lot of the "sense of realism" you are mentioning.
However, such is difficult with novel adaptations. Not only are screenwriters not so free to alter the script, because of the author's copyright. The sense of fantasy becomes "unreal" when the roles are played with actual humans whose expressions and nuances are not as controlled as they would be in their illustrations or the reader's imaginations...

You may be looking at it too much in a perspective of realism, when this is actually a visual adaptation of a novel-make. You have to look at it in the perspective of a novel fantasy, not reality.
And I understand that the standard may have been raised by the remaking of KP's adaptation, but that remake was different because they were allowed to change so much of the script by the author herself to provide that sense of realism. But unfortunately, such frredom is not awarded by majority of authors of the adapted novels and manhwas...

So you know, since we know about the technicalities better, we should take it in with maximum tolerance.

I know the show was comical with the edits. I was also confused too. Like is Beam the new "Master"? It's like…
True, and his supposedly "dead" dad appears at the end and revealed himself to that traitor snake Gasolina, then Gasolina's minion talking as if selfie girl or maybe Miss Bunny is her daughter... them opening those topics at the end is sure to arise a lot of questions. And have people expecting for season 2.
On Mafia The Series: Guns and Freaks Jun 18, 2022
I felt a little lost at the last episode... It just skipped from Beam going to school after Sven hot a Hummer and being reluctant to be Nemesis' master, to visiting his father's grave as the gang leader and his bffs as his sidekicks...
I mean what just happened? That was it? I sure hope there's a second season...
As absurd as the logic and physics were in this series, I still want to see what happens. Rachen is alive. We still want Big Head wiped out from the face of the Earth. I want Anna to kill Violet so badly... and Gasolina's gang need to be taken down...
Also, there was something somewhat GL and mysterious between Miss Bunny and Selfie Girl-who-apparently-is-Gasolina's-daughter-who-claims-her-mother-died-long-ago...
And I need clarity on what happened to my SvenNat ship ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I gave an over all rating of 9.5, only because I have an aversion to body swap tropes...
Make no mistake though, this series made sure to eradicate the body-swap weirdness stigma by the impeccable cinematography anf meticulous frame planning...
It's totally personal preference that i kept that 0.5 fom the rating because of my dislike of "body swap" tropes.
Nevertheless, it was very well produced and well-casted, plus Earth and Mix are such versatile actors...
Just the part where, although Korn's mind's eye can see Win, his actual eyes should be seeing Lin... and hugging Win, cradling him, teasing him and everything else, but it's Lin's body and face... just doesn't sit right me~

Bruhโ€ฆ I know it technically was a โ€œhappyโ€ ending, but that shit DESTROYED me. I have cried for a BL this…
yes, yess while watching the ending I was fearing this was gonna be like the ending of Grey Rainbow because of the actors nd was bawling my eyes out... but then I was consoled at the fact that Prakan reincarnated so quickly ๐Ÿ˜

But if anything, nothing can make me cry as hard as Until We Meet Again did, not even this series or Grey Rainbow...

Oh that ending!!! Ig it gives justice to what happened to them in grey rainbow lol I actually cried in this ep,…
OMG a fellow Grey rainbow fan ๐Ÿคง๐Ÿคง I know right? This gave us a better closure than Grey Rainbow did... GR made us feel so in love so fought for, only to devastate us and break us in painful ways at the end ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Dear Doctor gave us a way out of experiencing that pain all over again...
It depends on the person's perspective whether this was a happy or sad ending... But for us from Grey Rainbow, this is already a very happy ending for us๐Ÿคง

I had no idea this pairing isn't new. I might give Grey Rainbow a watch
yes, indeed... it's quite an old series, they were still very young in that series, and at that time there was still a lot of gender bias and acceptance of gay couples in storylines isn't as openly supportive as the modern BL series nowadays...
They do get "married" though or something close, but just have tissues at the ready... ๐Ÿคง๐Ÿคง๐Ÿคง
On Dear Doctor, I'm Coming for Soul Jun 10, 2022
Karn and Nut made me cry in Grey Rainbow... :'( and to see them together again in Dear Doctor is ecstatic <3
I was ready to throw fists at the end as I was worried they have, yet again, a tragic ending... :'( but I was happy that it wasn't at all "ending" in the sense of the word... ๐Ÿ˜
Their love went beyond human comprehension, it crossed fates, and literally went against all odds.
I wish to see them both, again in future works <3 They truly dominate themes and concepts of tragic love with their chemistry... And somehow they both endure and win it... regardless of the set ending <3

Title Again My Life Spoiler
I honestly feel unresolved about the ending... Assemblyman Cho ending up like that after the entire struggle to bring him down the entire series... and the entrance of a new villan by episode 16...
But I bet, it does make a good epilogue if there was a season 2 underway.
But if there isn't... then this series just gives me unresolved feelings, and not in a good way.

honestly, this would've been a very amiable series, if it wasn't for the fact that after episode 3, the rest of the episodes with proper english subtitles are hard to find. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

he gets better though. he is annoying, but then reality speaking, someone we don't understand tends to annoy us.…
thank you so much <3 I felt sad that this series seemed so underrated, but I guess I do understand that not many people might understand the message the series was giving off because the moral, social and political issues seem all over the place, along with the supernatural genre in a story relayed with realism.
I assume that would make it quite off-putting for casual viewers.
I really appreciate if you would watch til the end, even if you still don't like it <3 Thank you <3

im currently on ep 6 of this and am I the only on who dislikes Nut??? he's so annoying. I get, his life is a mess…
he gets better though. he is annoying, but then reality speaking, someone we don't understand tends to annoy us. Simply because we don't understand them.
Think of it this way, his father had anxieties and paranoia, his mother had depression and delusions... it would be surprising for a kid growing up in such conditions to not have any mental issues himself.
He has anger management issues, and that's to be expected, since every single adult around him have not been the sanest bunch...

But don't worry his character gets better, his character's growth will only make the existence of Tofu's character even more precious than his miraculous transformation from teddy to human.

I know Nut's character tends to be irrational and annoying in the beginning, but just keep watching and maybe you'll somewhat understand where he's coming from. And how important this phase was for Tofu's character development as an inanimate object to a human.
Nut's character is not perfect, but that's what actually makes him human and not just a simple fictional character.

Please spare some patience and watch til the end. This may not be the perfect y series production... but this was art in my own opinion. The emotions were more human than fictional, and I saw beauty in that. I wish you would, too. <3
On The Miracle of Teddy Bear May 4, 2022
I cried buckets when that seemingly upbeat intro every episode became a heartbreaking song when Tofu died (T^T)
It's so hard to accept that the cp we were rooting for ended up with a platonic relationship.
I really did believe Tofu loved Nut more than Tatarn, too bad that it would've been fetishy to have a NutTofu ending because Tofu is an inanimate object, in reality.

I'm just sad, because they looked good together.
On The Love of Winter Apr 2, 2022
I don't understand the hate this short film is getting.
How this was a rip-off of CHECK OUT The Series and whatnot.
Like seriously, The Love lf Winter and Check Out Series are definitely not the same.

For one, Thitnuea is a local.

Second, the bl concept is only a secondary priority in this miniseries. The main priority is the promotion and tourism of the northern parts of Thailand. Unlike Check Out whose main priority was the romance between two strangers trying to find themselves.

Third, the Check Out oneshot film is a prologue for the upcoming series. The Love Of Winter is a promotional film that seeks to introduce the hidden natural beauty of northern provinces of Thailand. See? Two entirely different purpose, so how can anyone say they were the same? That's prejudiced.

This was specifically artistically done. No major drama, no over-shipping, and the main priority were the beautiful sceneries and tourist destinations...
This may not top the cake of my BL chartlist, but this definitely falls as one of the memorable BL oneshots...

Title Blueming
OMG as a media arts major, I appreciate how they played with the lighting and shadows and various filming techniques, angles and photographic videography...
Also, the post-prod editing palette using the hues of blue along with the color play between warm and cool tones to depict the changes in emotions was absolutely beautiful!

Not to mention the rookie actors had some legit acting skills (aside from their beautiful faces and heart-rending smiles and aegyo)

The sound engineering was also impeccable, the right music comes on at the right moment to invoke the right feelings in the scene... although there was one miss at the part of Da Un's illusion, I felt the sound effect used could've been better to initiate his sense of "falling into the illusion", i know the purpose was to portray the fact that Da Un's illusion feeling real atleast to his POV and getting the viewers included in that experience... but I felt there could've been a sound effect to disassociate the viewer's perception from Da Un's reality to Da Un's illusion... like a single note high-pitched bell sound, or underwater muffle, or a fade-in/fade-out sound... etc.

But im general it was wonderful. An eye-candy. And an artistic film for geeks like me...

I just wanted to defend your take on how you think it was"illegal" to disclose Ake's medical information to his…
then you probably didn't know that people with mental health issues especially as severe as the antisocial, degenerative type like Ake's are not legally allowed to make decisions for themselves without their guardian's consent? So even if Ake never gave consent to his psychiatrist, who to include or not include in his support group is not entirely his own prerogative. The psychiatrist has legal right to arrange that based on the patient's subconcious needs and the permission of his parents or guardians.

So if she thinks Milk is a key point in improving Ake's therapy, with the permission of Ake's guardians, she can take actions according to her treatment plan. Including disseminating needed information regarding the patient's situation.

Also, even if you claim in court that it is illegal,
1)There was no malpractice as she never divulged information, but only explained what condition Ake has, that Milk and Dr. Pun already knew prior to visiting her.
2)Vital information concerning identity and privacy was never leaked
3) Milk came there with full knowledge of Ake's condition, and presumably with Ake's parents/guardian's consent as he wasn't just an ex bf, but also a childhood friend, hell, they even have keys to each other's houses and know each other's families... he wasn't "just some random person" who walked in there ๐Ÿคจ

He must be in an out of the zone state. It's how the saying "physically here but mentally somewhere else" came…
(edit: I made this reply because someone responded to my reply with something stupid as "that doesn't justify them talkingabout a person that's righ there" but I don't see their comment nor their profile. So they either blocked me, deleted their account or got suspended by mydramalist's moderators or whatever. But I felt no need to delete this response in case someone will say something stupid again unrelated to my response, so just keep scrolling thank you <3)

I didn't say it wasn't. What I said was a possible explanation why Ake didn't respond or seem to bother that there are people there in his space when he's supposedly "out of it"

But then again, the fact that you would think it's rude, that his friends would rush over to his side trying to get someone to explain what's going on right there and then, (although their execution of the scene was not that perfect nor natural-looking) probably means you've never been a real friend to someone who is suffering this kind of condition. Nor have you been worried to this extent.

Besides, people with depression are over-thinkers, and not the positive type. They think of the worse. So imagine if Ake heard them go "let's talk somewhere else" and went to talk about him where he can't see them, he won't think "oh they're just talking about my condition"...
No. Instead he'd be thinking "they're excluding me again" (as was what he'd been feeling all this time he had depression resulting him to quit and break up with Milk in the first place) or "are they talking about me? how pathetic I look? how useless I am? that I'm a waste of space? Am I a burden? Should I be here?"

Depressed people are not as woke as you normal people. They are fracgile because their brains do not function properly on a positive note. Their insecurities eat them alive. So while you think that them talking about him and his condition right next to him is rude, in comparison to a real person with the same condition, he probably appreciates the fact that they are not talking behind his back at the very least.

I'm confused so DR. Pun doesn't want to be a doctor anymore and just wants to be jobless ? this plot is so all…
that Korean friend from the first episode did mention that Dr. Pun used to do filming back in school. He must've become a doctor because of his parents and not because it was his calling.
Sorry, it's an Asian thing, so non-Asians probably would find it confusing and weird.
Asian parents, especially those from older generations seem to look at professions in the entertainment industry similar to being jobless or their children being a failure.
They only associate professions like doctors, engineers, nurses, lawyers, etc., as the only acceptable professions that lead to success.
