Why was Ake lying in bed while they were talking about him? At first I thought he was asleep, but then he rolled…
He must be in an out of the zone state. It's how the saying "physically here but mentally somewhere else" came to be. Patients with severe depression have these type of symptoms. And sometimes induced by anti-depressant drugs.
For example, in psychiatric wards, if a patient goes out of control and gets a shot of anti-depressants or tranqs, they enter this state.
They enter a delusion, like a dream while awake, induced by the drug forcing them to calm their thoughts down.
Depressed people tend to sleep a lot, but it doesn't mean they actually rest, because even as they sleep they keep overthinking, and thinking of the worst, too. Anti-depressants are taken by patients to prevent that, because a full rest is detrimental to healing their mental state.

(p. s. I'm a patient too, and these are what my psychiatrist explained to me before, so I thought I'd clarify this part for those who might have taken that scene wrong, when it was actually a very accurate detail in terms of portraying depression)

Well, episode 9 was yet another great episode. I love how Milk forgot to continue ghosting Pun for no reason and…
I just wanted to defend your take on how you think it was"illegal" to disclose Ake's medical information to his friends. I would just like yo clarify that for you, since i used to go to a psychiatrist for depression too.
What she did wasn't illegal.
You see, when you start therapy they ask you for a list of important people around you for your potential support system, that includes parents, close friends and special someones.

Even if you don't write down those names, they take note of the people you often mention during your therapy sessions as they are deeply involved with what's happening to your mental state. And are essential for your therapy.

Unlike other medical illnesses, psychological illnesses has different rules on confidentiality. True that they cannot go around blabbing about a patient's condition without consent.
However, I want to point out, she didn't come to them, they came to her.
And she didn't inform them about the patient's illness, they already knew it.

The only thing she did was explain and educate them what his illness was. How far he has gone through therapy and how much support he needs and how detrimental it was for them to understand how to support him. She did not release anything specific regarding the patient's therapy sessions.
Also, Milk is technically a part of his potential support group as Ake's condition revolves around him, being Ake's closest person of interest during the time of Ake's triggers.
And surely Ake would have mentioned Milk many times during sessions and the psychiatrist took note of it. Seeing that Milk himself came forward to understand Ake's situation, then that means a step forwarx towards Ake rehabilitation and counselling.

This is actually what happens during real life mental health rehabilitations. You see, in Ake's case, he reached to a psychiatrist because he needed help, he knew he needed help but didn't know how to reach out. He didn't come there to hide anything but to get himself out of it. He needed support but didn't know who to ask for it or how to ask for it. And that is part lf a psychiatrist's job.
She did her work right and didn't commit abything illegal, technically speaking.

Happy ending? If not why
I can't really call it an "ending" since it was an open-ended finale. It was more like a cliff-hanger, if it was a book, and the ending is left to the viewer's imagination.
That's why everyone's demanding a 2nd season, because the "ending" is unresolved...

1) We have BL bestie Sammie featuring
2) There's BDSM (although I doubt they'll be able to accurately present the informative side of BDSM apart from plain sadism)
3) We have a threesome side couple

what more can I ask for? ❀️

there is a possibility of season 2 bc the manhwa isnt even finished yet also from what i know they cant do that…
it is just wishful thinking though, that's why i tagged it as "theory"
Besides, what made me think of this possibility is Seoham's ending message to Jaechan in the Dongkiz On Air vlog of the Semantic Error's behind the scenes on Dongkiz's YT account.
Where Seoham mentioned 19 episodes... when we all clearly have only seen 8... so the question is, where are those 11 episodes? The only possibility I can think of is special episodes, or pre-recorded season 2 episodes..
But like I said it's just a theory, until they make an announcement.

Besides, he could've already gotten the royalties and fees prior to enlisting as he's filmed it in advance, so it's not unlikely...
On Semantic Error Mar 11, 2022
Theory# 1: There will probably be a season 2, seeing the epilogue sounds a lot more like a prologue than a conclusion to the story.

Theory# 2: Watcha probably already filmed parts of the season 2 that involves Seoham's character so that the Season 2 can be produced and aired even after Seoham enlists.
After all, the prologue already set his character to be going to DEX (located in France) on behalf of both Jaeyoung and Sangwoo, while Sangwoo apparently stays in Korea. (Which doesn't sound like a conclusion of a story but a hint on another plot line)

Love this. I am a lgbtq person from germany btw. And I can identify with both characters way better than with…
Exactly! Thise people are only joining the bandwagon because they think it'll make them "righteous" even though it's nothing but fake pleasantry.
And I don't understand why kinks have to be categorized as "weird" or "scandalous"
We all got kinks. Whether it's holding each other's hand, embracing a person to sleep, smoking after the deed etc.,
Anyone can develop a kink with their partners. It's natural. It's reactive response. It shouldn't be something to be judged by anyone apart from the person who feels it.
You stop, when you feel like you need to stop.
Like how Hira took a step back when Kiyoi pushed him during graduation... Even though Kiyoi kissed him.
He took a step back because he considered Kiyoi's feelings. He considered the fact that the other person might not like it if he pursued him.
He didn't want Kiyoi to feel trapped because Hira liked him...

Both their thought processes are mentally draining and confusing.. But that's how it usually is in reality...

Thank you for writing this. I have actually gotten i bit emotional when i read your comment, especially the part…
Indeed, there's a lot of psychology involved in this storyline, and viewers need to be mayure enough to be able to understand the story itself.
A lot of those negative commenters got it wrong by assuming this is another gay guy turns straight guy kind of BL series, because in the first place, none of the main leads are gay in the beginning...
Hira is actually pansexual. He was never interested in anything else or anyone else. And he was only attracted to Kiyoi because he was "beautiful" in Hira's standard. It was never because he's a guy... But that he was that person, regardless of gender. And Hira was sucked in that whirlpool of attraction and was stuck there... Because Kiyoi kept him there.
It's complicated, but that's why it feels more real and non-clichΓ©...

Not all non Asians. I am a white welsh (British) person and loving it. I love the story, the acting , everything.…
Right? The director did a great job expressing the confusion, and mental turmoil by camera work. The POV monologue also gave us great insight and include us in the emotions and thought process of the protagonist which is, psychologically, very stimulating for the audience. It let's us immerse in the same emotions and mentality to make it feel even more relatable (^v^) the entire cast deserves compliment for real.

Here! Comments on such series made me realize that cultural background really plays an important role in one'…
Yes indeed. Cultural background is very important in understanding a lot of good quality filmography. To be honest a lot of good ones are buried under the clichΓ©, stereotyped plotted stories that only cater to viewer's sense of "righteousness" and fantasies.
Ideally the market is a majority of people who prefer what's not real over plots that have actual relatability to the minority.
And because the majority have been fed with clichΓ©d stereotyping, actual masterpieces like Utsukushii Kare and a lot of others go by unappreciated and criticized.
And I don't mean to generalize but I feel like it's such an American thing to do. Labeling things. And judging things even beyond their jurisdiction.
There's only a few minority of Westerners who actually take the time and effort to immerse in stories like these. And actually understand or atleast objectively analyze the story with unbiased cultural ignorance.
On My Beautiful Man Dec 10, 2021
I find it weird that majority of non-Japanese fans only have negative things to say about this series. When this was a manga, no one said sh*t, but now that it's been made into live action due to public demand all of a sudden activists just pop out of nowhere, acting lile they know this story and what the plot actually signifies.

1) There's no "manipulative", "toxic", "abusive" or "homophobic".

Who is being manipulative?
*Hira, who is a passive-aggressive masochist? *Kiyoi, who is in every sense a classic representation of a Tsundere?
*Kobayashi, who found a person he liked only to find out that same person is in love with someone as sharp-tongued and rude as Kiyoi and thinks he has the right to "save" Hira from a "toxic" relationship because he doesn't understand what kind of emotional investment the two has for each other and that Hira and Kiyoi's affair don't exactly fit the 'norm' jn relationships as dictated by society standards? Oh wait–that sounds familiar... Because I swear that was how people viewed homosexual relationships and the lgbtq+ thus far... >:(

What part of being in a turmoil of identity crisis are you considering "toxic"? When in the first place, society dictated what was black and white and made people who are stuck in the middle be confused about themselves and brood with hatred that blows up spreading shrapnels flying to whoever the hell is nearby...

Who abused who? Because as I see it, its difficult to identify rejecting something you don't know or understand as "abusive" because if it is, then all humans including you would be categorized as one, don't you think? One way or another, we despised someone or something. At some point we talked sh*t about someone or something we didn't like or understand.

2) Kiyoi calling Hira stalker isn't because he hates Kira or because Hira is actually stalking Hira. The reason why Kiyoi would say such words comes from his own confusion. Because society taught him that things like that shouldn't be done, but somehow he secretly finds pleasure at the thought of Hira, who almost never looks at anyone, look at him and him alone. And although he supposedly has to cut off such advances, but for some reason he enjoys it.
So when he says "disgusting" he is actually talking about himself for having these feelings he is not supposed to as taught by society's standards. So he says things he don't mean to convince himself he isn't feeling it. Like calling Hira stalker(which if you watch objectively, seems to become a pet name for Kiyoi when referring to Hira), calling him gross, and doing the opoosite of how he ttuly feels (which is obviously a legit tsundere character.

3)You guys have to understand that there are actual real people who are like this. Who suffers the same way.

Was I the only one who felt iffy that they are literally romanticizing between a 19 year old adult and a child? An 11 year old child?
And no, I'm not talking about age gap... They could be 20 years apart and it still would've been ok as long as both parties are legal adults...
But just shipping between a 19 year old idol and an elementary school kid... Feels wrong... πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
And I know there's an important plot considering their age, but it just doesn't feel right to be earning off of romanticizing a little girl with a post-teenager adult πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

You don't get it. I already paid for four app's VIP subscriptions waiting for it to drop in any of those platforms. And you want me to paymore for VPN? 😭Money doesn't grow on trees hun.
I have literally a 9to5 job and two part-time work just so I could fit all my bills in along with these subscriptions.
And the sad part is once you pay for subscriptions, you don't get a refund for early cancellation. 🀧

The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't available in my region. So I had to use other means to be able to watch it. (T^T)
I mean, they already had it on VIP and paid subscription. They could've made it available on all regions even if it wouldn't be a free view.
I mean, the very purpose we even had membership is to get first access and easy access (T^T)
But here we are, crying at the fact that it's not available in my region (T~T)

Your excited comment is enough for me to actually start this series πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Thank you very much. I tend to not judge a drama or series within he first few episodes. I feel lile shows are like people, if you wanna judge them, better know them from birth to end. You can't be biased and claim to have the right to review or make a comment of it.

I think treating these shows like friends and enthusiastically expecting and thoroughly immersing yourself in their journey.
If the entire story sucked eben after watching til the last episode, atleast I could claim that I respected the show and the people who worked hard to created it.
It's like laving a book in a shelf to be covered with dust, but you don't feel bad at all because you've read the entire thing and know the story of that book.

πŸ˜…People think my reactions and reviews are a little too enthusiastic and unprofessional or non-technical. But just like books, I always think there's no reason to be too formal between friends. Especially ones that shared their happiness, sadness, conflict, difficulties and emotions to you.
Dramas and series I've watched, are watching and plan to watch, are all like that to me πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° a dear friend. If they end up to be something I regret or not, I prefer to be able to say, I was at least a part of their story. πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Okay.. So first, Mii Mii COUPLE!!! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ™€πŸ™€*shameless fujoshi screams*
Except they're technically supposed to be in-laws hereπŸ˜… and Jimmy's Korean is clumsily adorable, I wanna pet him and keep him in my pocket if he wasn't so tallπŸ˜… I mean I can pocket Tommy definitely, but I swear... As much as he's dashing in that slick back and thin-rimmed glasses, he looks really small in that suit πŸ™ˆ(but still adorable in my hearteu~😍

Second... Jaehyun's so adorable, I don't even mind him getting in between my miimii couple πŸ™ˆ... In fact, get me the papers and I'm adopting this adorable bean as my 57th korean son πŸ₯°

Thirdly, (thirdly? Is that even a word? πŸ€” *ssh! Focus!* when they said "first Thai-Korean BL collaboration", the fujoshis have waited aggressively for about two years 😎 and I must say they didn't disappoint.
Take Thai BL romance charms plus Korean filmography techniques
πŸ‘πŸ‘*slow clap* now THAT'S some quality Korean BL!

Fourth, it's amazing how this entire casting and the fact that characters go back and forth from Korean and Thai to cater to the actors/actresses' comfort in throwing lines, is surprisingly not awkward.🧐 Most of the times, language barrier makes it hard for actors to throw lines at each other with ease even though it's scripted.
It's a real challenge to summon emotions when you can't understand each other, so I am impressed how they made it seem so natural to be speaking in entirely different languages
They did a pretty great job πŸ‘πŸ₯°
