On The Story of Pearl Girl Nov 12, 2024
That one critic on YouTube has uploaded her review. I must say, let's not engage. People are passive-aggressive there, and they even compare TSOPG to that drama.

Yeah, and on another site (not MDL), I'm rolling my eyes reading posts after posts saying the drama was too slow.…
What the heck are they expecting? A romantic comedy? 🤣 Did they not watch the trailers? It was obvious in the first place that it's going to be heavy and dark. Why complain now? 😀 And then whine about the drama being overhyped just because this isn't their kind of genre. If they want a feel-good drama, then this isn't for them. But just because this isn't their cup of tea or did not enjoy it doesn't mean it's overhyped and underrated. 🙂

I think they're expecting a full romance drama, when in the first place it's actually female centric. Romance is just a subplot.

yeah, I saw those comments too. Like what? It's one of the most fast-paced dramas I've watched on par with kdramas. I'm even afraid to miss anything, so I really have to pay attention.

Oh, I love all the angst, it's so well-executed, though it's quite unusual since most cdramas I've watched were very slow in pacing. 😅 This is the first time I've watched a fast-paced cdrama.

I think it’s because the place was being investigated now so she can’t do anything there anyway. And all the…
yeah I agree but given that they were given an imperial punishment due to the situtaion with tribute pearls, reorganizing the mining business might be also be a good idea. There's a high possibility that after the investigation, they will lose all their rights to the mines as well because of the imperial edict.

I get your point but I don't really think that she has enough spare time to do that. The investigation for sure will take longer and no one knows that she lost the lotus. I believe she is looking for other ways to remedy her situation. She cannot rely on the mines now since all operations are being halted. Even if she were to get new workers, that can only be done if the investigations are to go well. Moreover, I don't think she is altruistic enough to stay there and help the people just because she was moved by their impoverished situation.

Title The Story of Pearl Girl Spoiler
didn't she saw yan zijing shot that arrow at her tho?
No, she did see it. I also replayed it. The only arrow that she didn't see was the one from the masked man. When she was shot, spitting blood, she saw Yan Zijing pointing the bow at her. Her eyes were wide open when looking at Yan Zijing, that's why her tears were flowing too. And when he was shouting her name in panic, she did not see him because of the flames in between them. I really think this was the cause of the misunderstanding.

I hope they don't drag out the misunderstanding. Even from DW's pov I don't see why she should jump into conclusion…

Let's be honest, both are hits domestically. Both dramas are actually neck to neck with each other. There are days when Love Game is on top of the charts and there are also days where The Story of Pearl Girl is on Top. Zhao Lusi hits a new high of 9.32 making it the highest in 2024 and Pearl Girl is also making waves internationally. I mean both dramas have different genres as well. Not to mention, one is a feel-good drama and the other one is dark and heavy. So you do you. If you want to be happy, watch Love Game, but if you want the angst and pain, then go to the Pearl Girl. These dramas are good. Let's not fight, please. 😀

is this dark? the trailer made it seem very heavy. trying to figure out if i want to wait and binge.
It is quite heavy especially in the first few four episodes but rest assured that the quality, storyline, and acting are unmatched.

Can anyone tell me why TSOPG isn’t the number one trending drama on MDL? When we have more comments, higher…
I think it's because of the number of users and rank. We need more number of comments as well. But it's really fishy that we are top 3, when we're supposed to be top 2.
