Wow I must say I havr conflicting views about this drama. I loved Xiao Beiming, Huo Dairong and Zhuge Kongyun most, I felt like their characters were just more interesting to me. I personally was not rlly able to get into the drama until Hup Dairong appeared, only then did I feel like things started getting more interesting. I wasn't really very impressed by Xiao Beiming and Zhuge Kongyun at the first few eps just because of how proud or overconfident both of them seemed, however, I still had a gut feeling that they will grow on me, and they did. I particularly loved the silent yet mutual trust between XBM and ZGKY , they may seem like enemies on the surface but yet they are the ones who understand eo best. ZGKY was hard to figure at the start, whether he would be on XBM's side or not, however despite the multiple attempts to make him seem like the villain, I just couldn't find myself to hate him lol. I just find his character to be very intriguing, I found it cute how obsessed he was with XBM. I like how he mentions that sometimes, ur rival may as well be the person u admire most. Anyways, i rlly rlly loved the pairing of XBM and ZGKY. I feel like if if if the drama focused more on their bromance, I might have liked it even more.
Next, this is nothing against the actress herself, I think she portrayed the character exactly how it was supposed to be portrayed. I just feel like Zhong Xueman was a dull and bland character in comparison, I couldn't get attached to her, even in the end. I felt like the romance between her and XBM were just shoved down viewers' throats. I feel like this is just one of the drama where romance just isn't necessary. I honestly felt no chemistry between ZXM and XBM. In fact, I think XBM had better chemistry with ZGKY lol.
Finally, the cases and episodes weren't exactly the easiest to follow. It was confusing, boring but also interesting , all in one. It's complex, wild and perplexing. I would say they got more interesting towards the end. I I also found myself skipping a lot of scenes, esp the romance scenes between FL and ML, it just felt off for me unfortunately. However, I did thoroughly enjoy how some of the plots were connected to one another. Especially in the end, when the antidote for swift pill was revealed to be the Blood Freezing pill, the very same one which poisoned XBM. I found that to be really interesting.
Overall, I'll give this drama a 7.5 or an 8. I wanted to love this drama so badly, but sadly, this was more of a miss for me. However, I still want to reiterate that I absolutely loved XBM and ZGKY's silent yet mutual trust for eo, that for me was the highlight of the drama, it was beautiful to witness.
I get everyone's opinions and sincerely I do see the flaws ππ. However I'm still giving this a fat 10 because…
Anyways it was a love at first sight from me for both the female lead and male lead. As in like, the moment the drama started, I have already liked their characters π.
I get everyone's opinions and sincerely I do see the flaws ππ. However I'm still giving this a fat 10 because I enjoyed it too much.
I'm someone who needs to like the main lead's characters in order to like a drama. They need to be the ones catching my attention, they need to be the ones I'm constantly looking forward to seeing every episode, they need to stand out amongst the many other characters, they should be ppl I can feel a deep connection with.
And Legend Of the Female General ticks ALL those boxes for me. I don't think I have ever been THIS attached to two individuals before. He Yan is bold, witty , courageous, charismatic, and her male cross dressing is the definition of pretty & handsome. She's also inspiring to the women around her, always finding ways to support them and guide them to find their individuality. Xiao Jue is charming, looks tough on the outside but hv a soft heart, gentle, smart, attentive, loyal and also handsome is an understatement to describe Xiao Jue. The most attractive part about him is his eyes and half smile, a very subtle feature that makes such a huge difference. He is solid green flag from any perspective u look at. The character, Xiao Jue, is insanely hot and not just in terms of attractiveness but his entire vibe and the way he carries himself. I like how the combination of the two of them is NOT someone constantly protecting the other, but rather how each of them as individuals CAN protect themselves and choose to fight alongside each other.
Finally, Cheng Lei and Zhou Ye perfectly embodied the characters Xiao Jue and He Yan. That's my priority. It's my first drama from them but seriously, no one else is more suitable for this role. They made this drama alive.
This drama is full of flaws and illogical but I can't help but crave more and giggle every ep. The plot was unsteady, especially towards the end but the main characters didn't lose their essence in my opinion, that's important to me. The characters carried this drama for me and that alone is enough for me to give a 10. It's rare for me to give a drama a 10 solely based on characters and acting, but this is an exception for me. β€οΈ
I'm only on ep9 but my 2nd male lead syndrome is getting worse exponentially, like I genuinely love the 2nd male lead so much ππ. Do I even continue this? p.s Yes I know who ends up with who, nvr specified who 2nd ML was so as to avoid spoiler πΉ
You will β₯οΈ it. Go for it! 28k+ comments are the very clear answer for u. πππ
Will go for a few eps then !! π I know abt the high ratings and 28k comments, which was why I started this drama even tho it's not usually my kind of genre. I so desperately want to like it. I'll give it another chance ~
No cuz u're a 100% right. I loved hidden love, lighter and princess, both from the very start. I think I just prefer those kind of visuals more in production rather than a gloomy mood with close to no humour. Perhaps I'm just in the wrong genre :( , I just wanted to give this one a try cuz of the hype and high ratings. To be very fair, I didn't like WIFTY too π₯²π₯² so idk if i'm just the odd one out atp. Both WIFTY and TFF are so loved by the gp and yet here i am not liking both π
The First Frost is completely different from Hidden Love. TFF is a slow burn mature romance with melancholic vibe.…
U're completely right !! I am trying to get to a few more eps and see how it goes. I'm only watching it for wen yifan ngl, cuz she's so breathtakingly beautiful in like a natural kinda way, if u get what I'm trying to say, basically just refreshing visuals. Perhaps I'm just not a fan of slow burn drama since I like the feeling of thrill and excitement more.
I shall listen to ur advice and give it a few more eps! Tysm luv π
Why TF did u rate deaths game 3.5 πππ΅βπ«
GIRL I'M SORRY, ik that drama is so so dang well loved so it pained my soul when I didn't like the first few eps and couldn't bring myself to continue. Almost the same exact reasoning as this one, no connection to the MCs. Also I was going thru a shit point of time when watching that drama, so the whole depression taboo saga made me feel so overwhelmed. But I mainly dropped it because I couldn't connect and empathise with any of the characters.
Guys i'm at ep 2 rn and I'm still not feeling this drama nor getting intrigued, does it get better later onwards and if yes which eps? π₯Ή Personally loved hidden love because almost every ep was fun and exciting for me, had me hooked from the start. Whereas for this, i'm alr 2 eps in and I still struggle to find a connection with any of the characters, both main and side. The acting is def high class but plot and chemistry wise, idk if i might like it. Would love to hear ur opinions on this drama and why it's so high rated, perhaps it can motivate me to continue HAHAHA.
I would say the plot isn't the best or anywhere realistic and yes there's a tad bit too much fighting even for…
OMG congrats bestie π. I'm the same as u hehe, absolutely loved it when the MCs reconciled and u get to see their actual dynamic beneath the previous ordeal. Whatever it is that they have, is so special. Imo they're soulmates, romantically or not, it didn't even matter to me HAHAHA. And yes jeng shd hv had a heavier punishment for tormenting students but oh well I can close one eye to that. And yes, ken's redemption arc was definitely touching to see. Curious to know ur final rating hehe, and did u regret finishing it by any chance?
Watched this as curious why it has such high ratings and everyone seems to be gushing about it. Now on Ep 5 and…
I would say the plot isn't the best or anywhere realistic and yes there's a tad bit too much fighting even for high school violence. BUT I think the reason why everyone (inc me) is gushing over this drama is because of the MCs and their bond, it's portrayed so painstakingly well, and u can sense from their monologues that they're not just a simple best friend to eo, they're more of soulmates per say. I just find that to be super intriguing. Also as the drama progresses, the other classmates' growth is also an interesting touch, their character growth is the cherry on top. Though personally, what solidifies this drama for me is rlly the chemistry btwn the MCs. It didn't even need romance or any intimate scenes to depict how special their bond is, u can just feel it. You can find plenty of dramas with good acting but it isn't necessarily easy to feel the chemistry since good acting doesn't necessarily translate to good chemi.
But but I'm not sure if I reco u to go on since there rlly is no stop to fighting in this drama AHHAHA. Perhaps violence and action dramas are not ur kinda thing. I only suggest u to carry on if u feel attached to the MCs, because w/o the connection with the MCs, u won't be able to enjoy this drama imo.
which ep are u on rn! And which part did u not like? just curious πββοΈ
lmk how it goes! Also it's super important to get attached to/ resonate with the MCs, so if u don't like the MCs even aft watching a few more eps, then mayb this drama just wasn't meant for u ~

dayum shucks i guess, each to their own. To be fair I went in judgmental as well, I was like ain't no way this drama is gonna turn out good. I rmbr being so critical of all the fightings in ep1 and etc but when u start learning more abt the MCs (esp saint) and also experience the growth of these youths, that's when rlly start liking the drama. It's not a realistic plot but it was nonetheless a super enjoyable one for me! I think aft ep 3 or so, i was hooked. If u aren't a fan of the MC, it's definitely going to be hard to watch tho, I've dropped endless dramas because I couldn't get attached to the MCs HAHAHA. Perhaps it's not ur taste, do u hv any recommendations by any chance?
