I just read the book after dropping the show, seriously why does Chinese media screw up a good story always. In my opinion the book is much better then the show.
started to fast forward ⏩ from episode 49 this is utter nonsense just how did those dancers at the brothel could only remember the sister and not the waiter, also some scenes around minai arc were cut the story seems rushed damn I was so invested in this drama. FL is also weird need to find the book am sure they have screwed up her character.
For 1 I dislike MLs face and too good character, FL talking in that childish voice is irritating am on 17th episode and am struggling to watch this drama every few minutes I am switching screens to look at something else to pass time and get back to the show again.
Not a particularly good adaptation. I would give the series an 8 according to MDL standards.
Thanks to your comment I went and checked the book first and found it interesting from the first chapter itself was hooked, the author has done a wonderful job and winds up the story quickly not even 200 chapters. I found it funny and cute, couldn't stop cursing the ML from the start till the arc where the emperor asks why she didn't come back and choose her husband over him it was beautiful the way she called him out on his so called love for her and the way she answered how her husband was the best.
Well, I mean, Wan Mei has sex or engages in sexual activities with almost all the male characters in the novel…

Aa tedious seems the right word not boring. I started fast forwarding i.e. watched in 2x speed from the episode 27 as you said I too didn't wanted to drop it after investing so much time still wanted to see how they end. Leter on it just gets plain silly even for a fiction and fictious depiction of what could have been if instead of women empowerment began in the 16-17 century.
I dropped this at ep 16 but the good rating makes me believe I should give it another chance
I fast forwarded from episode 27 it was a good and funny drama at the start then it turned plain silly never would have happened IRL. I think this would have been a good read for a fiction book but found it boring to watch.
