I like you! ♥️I fully agree with your analysis too. Very insightful. I have to admit I was a bit thrown by…
Agree 100% I know that some ppl like to ignore the D/s elements of their relationship but I feel like you just can’t understand the true essence of their dynamic and what they’re experiencing if you do that. I like to say that they’re D/s lifestyle lite because it’s not just s€x k!nk for them there’s obvious hints to it being 24/7 - such as like you mention here Leo controlling Fiat when he’s doing bad or when he’s placing himself in harms way. But it’s also teased with the food - Leo feeding Fiat several times & in the clothes - Leo choosing Fiats clothing or punishing him for his clothes being too revealing. Someone else said they felt that they were actually supposed to be TPE because of some of the dialogue - like Fiat saying that Leo can do whatever he wants to his body or the Dont say no to me ever again but - the title itself. And honestly I can see that as well.
I soooo agree with u about Leo n Fiat relationship.. Most of the people are just stuck on that one conversation…
The show never claims to be portraying reality 😶. I don’t understand why that’s hard for ppl when it comes to the romance genre but can go sit down for an action flick where action sticks happen and you don’t think that’s ‘reality’ you understand it’s fiction in a fictional world. You see horror or crime films and you don’t think it’s okay to do revenge murder cause you know it’s FICTION. It’s the same for romance. It is fiction and every writer sets the laws to their story. They can give messages for our reality - but I don’t think you should actually take them even if they’re positive. Because it’s still inside a frame that is outside any real reality.
Mame never said she’d stories were reality or supposed to give you reality. She can push messages yes, she can show what she supports, or whatever but it’s still just her own fictional wprld space that e it’s within itself and it’s why you have to take into consideration all of her story not just the bit that fits your narrative.
I soooo agree with u about Leo n Fiat relationship.. Most of the people are just stuck on that one conversation…
I stopped reading after the first paragraph- the energy is a no.
I didn’t tell you you had to do anything. I stated there’s contest of the STORY missing from your post as it very much is…
You seem to be one of those ppl who try to force fiction stories to be real and the concept of being of the fictitious world is that is it ‘inspired by realism’ but that it is not realism and that the writer has a job of makeup girl the restructure, law and reality of their own story world. Which means its a concept you either don’t understand or feel that writers are wrong to live cry - but hey that’s your right to an opinion. Understand that we’re talking about story, you’re not talking about story you’re talking about fiction vs reality and how you feel that this fiction shouldn’t exist because it doesn’t mirror what you think should be in reality…😌 Thats 2 totally different concept. ✌🏾
I like you! ♥️I fully agree with your analysis too. Very insightful. I have to admit I was a bit thrown by…
Yeah I’ve seen a few people say that Leo not doing anything about Fiat leaving was ‘out of character’ but I don’t agree with that. Leo would have a desire to stop him but he’s always worked against his own desires in the face of indulging what Fiat wants and so the act of him forcing Fiat to stay or stoping him in that moment just isn’t believable even when the cost is there relationship. And that whole period where he’s crying and not eating or giving himself care while having nightmares was a testament to that because that period like I said in my last post was about him trying to emotionally condense himself back into the box of ‘friendship’ and that pain being that he wants to be able to that but also just not being in that state where it was easy to do so anymore.
The moment they have this discussion and Leo admits to his own fears, his own wants - this becomes a open dialogue where they’re having a conversation about what kind kid people they want to Bahia up as in their relationship and what kind of relationship they want that to be. It Fiat having a say and telling Leo that being that kind of person, them creating the relationship fitted to their needs & expectations is what he wants. That was the exchange and not just Leo controlling and being like - I want things this way and therefore they HAVE to be this way. That has never been the case for their romantic relationship. It has always been the two of decided what was okay under the scope of how they wanted to be together.
Even as far back as when they first got together and Leo asked for permission to hug Fiat. To which Fiat responds that Leo never asked when they were friends. That if he wants to touch him just touch him. And Leo let’s him him know that he doesn’t want there to be confusion that the hug is friendly. - What they’re really discussing here is a change in dynamic and expectation. Leo is making sure that Fiat is okay with him touching him under the guise of new motivations & expectations instead of using the permissions he had we hen they were under the guise of friendship. So when I hear ppl say that Leo has a control issue it’s weird because Leo has always made place for Fiat to say no, to change the rules, to have a say in the space of their romantic relationship even when he could have just as easily manipulated or moved in ways that would be the easiest route to getting what he wanted.
And so to me the dialogue in the finale was just them once again saying what they wanted and would allow in the scope of their own relationship.
About Fiat being insecure eventhough Leo has loved him his entire life it doesnt mean Leo can accept Fiat's past..…
I’m not sure if this is a response to my post or an accidental reply? But if it’s to me I don’t understand what you’re saying here. You start out talking about Fiats insecurity but blame it on Leo not being able to accept Fiats past. Can you clarify your post a bit and I’ll try to give a rebuttal or agreement.
I soooo agree with u about Leo n Fiat relationship.. Most of the people are just stuck on that one conversation…
I’m gonna slide in here for a second - only because I think I understand what MJ is saying and also because I feel like there’s some considerable context being forgotten.
The so called kidnapping was a ‘scared straight’ effort. This is important to note because while you state he was tortured - Fiat at no point in time was actually hurt, damaged, or in any real danger of being so. Not by Type or by Leo himself. - Leo was very visibly uncomfortable before, and during solely because he didn’t like the visual of Fiat being in any emotional distress. - scared straight techniques are used for lessons (which you said this was about) for people on the ‘bad’ path (path to crime) and I guess one could debated if Fiat needed to be put under this technique (with the the whole trying to sexually harassed someone after getting them drunk / stalking / forcefully kissing /etc)
As far as the whole hitting someone who was blackmailing fiat…I guess that’s something you can be judgmental over but I’m not sure it’s a strong argument to use how he treated an enemy who was threatening and hurting Fiat as a testament to what he’s capable of to doing to Fiat? Him being capable of harming someone hurting Fiat doesn’t really equate to being a danger to Fiat himself because that’s not exactly how it works.
Anyway I didn’t jump in to cause issue I just think some of the context is missing.
The entirety of my opinion on episode 12 what I hated & what I loved.
To be frank I was disappointed. I won’t say it was writing per say but production for this episode was very much a mess. The camera work was…questionable. It’s like they ran out of story and so to meet run time they lingered on shots for absolutely no reason. And then the set up for the s€x scene really or ratted me because it was the last s€x scene of the season so I def had expectations. The repeated banging of the painting…and I swear that thing moved or switched sides 😒. But the camera work here wasn’t working for me either.
😌 Fiat was carrying in that red suit tho…
So my issues with writing. When Fiat said he didn’t know who Leo would choose I tell “Lord make it make sense 🙃” Leo who cannot separate love and sex, Leo who had NEVER looked at anyone other than Fiat…we’re supposed to believe that Fiat just found a deep well of insecurity for the same girl he’s been reminding that she wish she was him all season?! Mame make it make sense babe 😪 Now I know I should consider the context of the show, that Fiat is having insecurities because of Leo’s outburst but it’s just not believable even in the set up of that context. Now if he had just left it at I didn’t know if you would choose to follow me…instead of making it sound like there was an actual choice to be made between him and Punn…then yes I would’ve been on board but instead I was punching air cause it was perfect until then.
My other issue with the writing itself was the dialogue about possessiveness - let me make this clear I have never been or will never be one of those ppl who fight for censorship in art. You will never see me say - This show/series/film/book is good because it has a ‘healthy’ relationship. Great writing can embrace all types of tropes - be it ‘toxic’ or ‘healthy’ and I’m more concerned with good writing than so called healthy storylines. I don’t need art t think for me. I believe in pushing critical thinking rather than the concept that art creates bad ppl - bad ppl engage with art, not the other way around. This is my opinion and I’m stating it so there is no confusion to what I’m about to say next - Mame should not have included this specific dialogue. Not because it was toxic - like I said I don’t care about that, in fact I enjoy possessive pairings/tropes when it comes to stories as they can be quite interesting dynamics and can make for a tension filled read. I’d even say a huge part of the reason I like Leo and fiat is because that concept always played in the subtext or casually within the text it self - I speak about this in my analysis of the two but the whole aspect of Fiat sleeping around to spite Leo is literally speaking to this concept. The reason it’s spite, the reason it’s supposed to get a reaction, the reason he later reproached Leo about this is because he was giving away what was Leo’s & Leo was showing that he cared or was affected. This made him angry and in TharnType2 we constantly see him throwing out taunts & challenges over it. The minute she added this dialogue in I could help but sigh because I feel like she could’ve gotten away with it but the moment that dialogue slipped I knew people were gonna be upset. The same people who had been calling the show healthy despite this concept of ownership already being branded in the text itself. Leo telling Fiat that he’s always been ‘his’. Fiat telling Leo that he could do anything he pleases to his body. This isn’t just sexy talk. This is Fiat once again dialing into the concept that his body, his entire being, belongs to Leo and therefore he gives Leo the right to any & everything he wants to it.
The reason I didn’t like the scene with the talk about Leo’s possessiveness is because they’d already cast a bad light on the mom for overt possessiveness and then here we have Leo saying that he’s a monster and he wants to lock Fiat away, they make a literal comparison between Leo & Fiats mom and they never contextualize it. Even though Fiat says you’ll never hurt me they didn’t really delve into that and they should have because viewers these days are not critical thinkers. They want the text to tell them exactly how to think and how to feel and they pick out one clump of dialogue or action and they state this is toxicity without contextualizing it by taking a look at the overall story. Is Leo possessive? Yes. Does that automatically mean something bad? No. Does that automatically make him like Fiats mom? No. Fiats mom was selfish in her possessiveness, she was abusive in it - physically and mentally. Leo has never once been abusive to Fiat, even asked for permission to be rough in sex play, even when jealous or angry he never actually seeks to lock away or harm Fiat. Most importantly Leo NEVER uses his sense of possessive to isolate Fiat from those he loves and those who loves him. He encourages Fiat to mend his relationships (his Dad, his step mom, and his sister, he I he even went with him to his Mom & pet Fiat guide the engagement despite her trying to separate him & Leo and despite knowing she always would he still agreed to Fiats right to come alone for following visits and trust him to not let her affect their relationship). He encourages Fiat to really see and appreciate how much others around him truly love him (for example his entire concept for his birthday surprise for Fiat was showing him not only how much he loved and appreciated him but how much all their family and friends did as well). However the moment people feel like they have something to call toxic and pick apart none of that matters any longer. The reputation of the relationship they had built until that moment disappeared for some viewers.
Also I feel like people lose the nuance of how their dynamic works - I’ve already seen ppl say that Leo has control issues and it’s just 😪🙄 eye roll worthy because if you understand their actual relationship you’d understand that yes Leo guides their relationship ship but Leo has all the real control. The moment he says ‘world stop’ everything stops. The series has shown several times this fact, even the set up that brought us to the finale. Despite all his talk of wanting to lock Fiat away - the reality is that when Fiat stated they should go back to friends Leo never tried to block him in, trap him, stop him, or even challenge him. If it’s not something Fiat wants or something that will make Fiat happy Leo won’t do it, he won’t be it. Because he has always been indulgent to Fiats want & needs (even when it caused himself pain). Even this so called desire to lock fiat away is permission by Fiat. And when they speak of lock away and tie up - it’s another reference to their BDSM relationship. Which is something else they’ve kept subtle but constant in the text. They even show this concept in action by having them talk about how possessive the Red suit makes Leo feel and the result is not banishing Fiat to the dungeon, it’s them not going back to the party and chooses to have sexy alone time again with an addition to Discipline involved (reward / punishment system).
😮💨 Ive spent way too much text on this but hey I guess it’s something else to try to explain in my analysis. As far as other sections of the story. The basketball game was lackluster. But I did really love the conversation that they had on the basketball court by themselves.
Like I mentioned in my post about episode 11 - we were really shown how the past affected Leo, his own fears kinda being brought forth and so I was really happy that they had Fiat apologize for the pain he cause Leo during that time. I love the fact that they both understood that they’re not perfect and that perfection may not be achievable but that didn’t invalidate their love for one another and their commitment to giving themselves to that love.
Something I wish would have been delved into was basketball…like why basketball. Why is it the thing important for them to share. I can’t remember it ever being really clarified in the text (it might have in TT2 but 😬 I’m not willing to watch again to find out 😅) but I did want to add this element into my analysis i if anyone else remembers the why being mentioned…let me know please 😊
I have a section in my complete analysis for Leo and Fiat called Surrender where I talk about how their journey has been one of surrendering themselves to one another and to their love completely. In this episode there were a few things that I could touch to speak about in that section so while I may not be happy about the entire episode there were bits that I can touch on and so I’m excited about that as always.
I don't think anyone is surprised so much as irrationally holding onto the hope that it wouldn't end that way.
I say surprised because that’s what some ppl were saying. I get holding out hope. Tho to be fair I think it’s on par with Mame so bets were kinda against fandom.
For anyone curious MeMindy stated on their official Twitter that oct 29 is the official trailer release for the special so I guess that Nov 6? Is the actual release for the special.
In my opinion this better than Tharntype. Idk if anyone else agrees
I agree. I really struggled with getting through a lot of TT and then TT2 felt like TT1 but reversed ( I still haven’t see the finale of either season). I also liked this side characters more for DSN. The only side characters I liked from TT was Fiat and Leo.
I might be the only person who feels this way but I actually like that there’s a writer out there whose series…
Hard facts! I felt like TT2 was just TT2 in reverse. It left me feeling a bit bamboozled like she really got away with giving us basically the same story set 7 years later 😒 Thats probably why I also really like Leo & Fiat their storyline in that one just captured me more.
I feel like if they hadn’t done that weird set up in LBC where they redid all the main couple but then had ae story still set like it happened…maybe LBC could’ve been better but it was just really messy.
I don’t know if she just went in knowing that she wanted to do a spin off for Leo & Fiat but it does feel like she had a story in mind for them already where as it just feels like she was responding to fandom demand with some of the other stuff.
okay, why do I have associations with Cinderella right now.princess Fiat in a red suit makes a sensation at the…
I said the same thing. It was the set up. The suit from his mother in law, the walk in sequence with the Pan to the speechless ‘prince’. The run off. The only thing missing was him leaving behind a slipper 😭
Thank you cause the comments were saying nov 6 but I thought the end of today’s episode said 29th but then I thought it could’ve been referring to something - so thanks for clarifying
I enjoyed this show. It wasn't amazing, the best show I have ever seen but it's wasnt a train wreck. It was a…
I might be the only person who feels this way but I actually like that there’s a writer out there whose series all kinda connect (in bl series). If everyone was doing it I might hate it. I actually liked all the side friends in this one - not really common for me with mame usually I don’t even learn her side characters names unless they’re really important to the story.
I agree I went out of TT2 wanting more Leo and fiat and this season gave me what I needed. A little more since m Mame’s story format was a little different with this one. I was really worried for this one after LBC 2 because….it just wasn’t for me at all. 2 episodes in I gave up. I don’t know what happened or how the ball dropped so majorly but I’m happy they didn’t bring that same set up issues into this production.
I’m really surprised that more ppl are surprised at Leon & Pob sending. I feel like on Twitter everyone kinda guessed this ending and chose to lean into the thought that they’d get their second coming in the special. But that was before the episode even aired…seeing it might make ppl feel very much different. Theorizing and actually seeing it become canon is two different experiences.
I do wonder if they’d forgo a reconciliation in the special for a spin off tho…idk I wouldn’t mind. I honestly think the actors could carry their own show.
I know that some ppl like to ignore the D/s elements of their relationship but I feel like you just can’t understand the true essence of their dynamic and what they’re experiencing if you do that. I like to say that they’re D/s lifestyle lite because it’s not just s€x k!nk for them there’s obvious hints to it being 24/7 - such as like you mention here Leo controlling Fiat when he’s doing bad or when he’s placing himself in harms way. Someone else said they felt that they were actually supposed to be TPE because of some of the dialogue - like Fiat saying that Leo can do whatever he wants to his body or the Dont say no to me ever again but - the title itself. And honestly I can see that as well.
In fact there’s a post on tumblr I think you should check out where someone gives their take on the ‘I’m a monster’ scene. I think it’s a really good take.
