I think they bonded because they are in the same department, probably paired up for a class project/assignment and probably met each other in the same social gathering, then they became friends from there. No matter how bad a serie is, there will be that one person that likes it or can relate to it. The fact that they portray gay love in different ways and are inclusive of different aspects of the relationship ranging from relationship between couples to societal expectations and pressures, family dilemmas, transitioning and the existence of other members of the LGBTQA+ without having to provide an explanation as to why those people exist (cos they owe no one that explanation) is simply amazing. Different countries with different ways of acting which is mainly due to cultural differences.
