idk where I read this but actually it was her mom. FL's mom became chairman Hong's mistress and had a son with him. apparently that son died in an accident which caused harm to the elder hong daughter as well but only FL was unharmed. so the mom forced FL to be mute so that chairman hong would have sympathy on them as she was scared he'd abandon them as their son died anyways.

yess there's a novel as well as webtoon on kakao. but you can only read some chapters w the daily ticket and you need a korean number(intl fans are so unlucky😭) if you want to buy all the chapters. someone has translated only the first 6 chapters. I'm still doing my research. I just hope some kind stranger will let me read the whole thing smh
