It's nothing compared to a custom in certain beliefs, where a female widow is highly encouraged* to follow her…

I could never survive a minute there

exactly!
so this was a major problem. and like in this drama she was supposed to marry the guy and he died in the way to the wedding. In todays world that wedding is automatically called off and she’s single. She has no obligations to the man’s family whatsoever but they still married her off to a ghost to do what!? Serve his family? And it makes no sense to me even if that was the custom to get a DIL if you ain’t got no son. They really are something else. The sister telling her she should’ve died with her brother that’s foul this girl didn’t even know who he is. And then to mourn a man she never met for 12 damn years plus “love” him excuse my language but that’s bullshit!

Title Marry My Husband Spoiler
can you please spoil why is doing all this?
so in the WEBTOON JiWon’s mom had an affair and left her we get told this when Soo Min “accidentally” spills it. Ji Won’s mother left her dad for Soo Min’s dad and JiWon and hates her for that plus she’s jealous of how JuWon’s dad loved her and treated her so lovingly because she’d invited her over once and SooMin saw their dynamic. Honestly it’s just wild and bunkers to hate her over something she has no control over

Honeslty customs back then were just horrifying especially for women. Because a man was free to remarry but a woman couldn’t. And like you said societal pressure would cause the widow to do what was “obliged” of her cause she had no choice. It was either go down this path and be “honoured” as a dedicated wife/daughter in law or be shunned by your family and society

Title Marry My Husband Spoiler
Although I read the WEBTOON and already know how much of a bitch Soo Min was….it still gets on my nerves seeing her in the drama now. Her sole life purpose is to destroy JiWon (won’t spoil why she was doing that). But later when it’s revealed I know it still won’t make sense as to what kind of mental deranged state a person has to be in to do that.

I'm beginning to think they've jumped the gun with ML's secret being revealed so soon to the audience. It's more…
if you read the WEBTOON we find out early that he also went back in time along with her. So they’re actual right on time with revealing his secret as well. cause he was giving clues in the beginning. the only part that takes it’s time in unveiling itself is how JiWon gives Soo Min the fate she was supo to have

I've just written an essay about the subject in school. It was a tradition that started under the Confucianism…
I’d rather time travel and be a man instead of a woman. Cause women never had it easy back then. And even if I time traveled back as a man I’d want it to be a man born into a wealthy powerful family cause if you were poor back then as a man even if you had it somewhat easier than a woman power really mattered

This is similar to south Asian mourning. A lot of African, East Asian, and south Asian traditions were pretty…
Exactly. They intentionally encourage or arranged marriages knowing that she’s trapped and can’t escape so they get to have someone do all the dirty work for them. The other side to this was marrying them off to men who were already sick and had been given their death card. So this innocent gullible woman marries him and he either dies in the wedding day or the week after. Then she gets labeled as a witch or someone with bad luck.m for killing her haiband right after marriage? Knowing full well they married off a dead man yet they act like they didn’t know he was sick

That I know all too well. I’m west African (Ghanaian). I’ve heard stories of things women whose husbands died had to go through and it ain’t pretty

I just can’t understand this tradition
staying chaste and mourning a husband you never met?😳😳I come from a culture that has the woman mourn her husband for at least 3 years but this is some next level mourning.

And yes I’ve watched countless dramas with women in mourning but that MIL is next level😮‍💨

How long did it take you to figure them out?
well the first girl it took me a couple of weeks the other one who really hid her intentions and I considered my sister it took me 10 years. And I think part of the reason I didn’t realize it sooner was cause I didn’t want to believe she wasn’t the person I grew up with and knew my whole life if that makes sense. Alrhough I did sense something was off I ignored it cause I kept telling myself she’s not that type of person

Jung Soo Min is the “best friend” we all should run fast and far away from.

I know what JiWon feels cause I had a 2 “best friends” whose favorite past time was gossiping and spreading lies. The funny thing is one presented herself to me as the innocent person while the other I knew what she was doing. I was so shocked when I discovered both of them had tag teamed.

this is one of my favourite revenge webtoon, I wish it stays good till the end and I love the 16 episodes, soo…
they’re basing it off the WEBTOON so they’ll pretty much stick to the original outline and just make a few tweaks here and there. Cause I’ve read the WEBTOON and ep 1 was basically what transpired in the beginning of the WEBTOON. Although it does go more in depth but ultimately they can’t do that since it’s only 16 eps but they still got it right

One thing I can never understand is why writers would create a character and make them in such a way that they could be redeemable then write them off. Ryu Shi Ho’s character could’ve easily been redeemed. It was evident with him falling in love with Namsoon but they killed him off instead. A complete waste of a awesome character

I caught it too.
we all do. Mines is so bad I’m always watching the background cause sometimes you catch stuff accidentally left in there or things the editing team didn’t erase

I caught it too.
I’ve caught so many I think in one of the episodes she was in heels and walking the shoes were different also. But they way they did it you’d have to pause to catch it and even then still might not get it cause it was fast.

then in another drama I saw the mic but it was in drama for a split second. Basically my eyes have become hawk eyes to catch anything 🤣🤣
