I agree with you. Plus there has got to be a reason why they are biased towards him/willing to bend rules for him. There is probably something they know he has that GSJ does not. I think some people are watching this show at face value. They are not really thinking about why other characters, especially the one's older than the 3 Gong cousin/brothers, are acting the way they do. They have been alive longer and been fighting against Wufeng attacks for longer. There is a reason behind their actions. It's not just plot armor. We are only on ep 8 and we have 24 episodes in total that are roughly 1+ long. I think people just need to be patient. I will admit, even I have made rash assumptions and I am now realizing, while having theories is great, I probably need to be more openminded.

I don't think YWS was crying because she felt guilty. She was crying because the very thing she talked about wanting with her sister/discussed hoping for was happening right before her eyes. Eating and washing clothing etc. with someone she cares about whether she realizes it or not. And before this, she didn't think she'd ever experience something like this.
