The show really isn't following the book that much anymore though...the Empress Dowager was the villain but if she is really the big bad, they should have already showed her character by now. Especially bc every time the grand princess or her child did something wrong, they'd run to her. Idk, I'm hoping I'm wrong but...who knows, only time will tell.

Now that you point that out...sigh...After everything the two of them have done? They don't deserve a happy ending but tbh, it's been awhile since I watched a cdrama where the bad guy got a fitting ending. Tbh idk. There wasn't one that I remember in the book but for a lot of adaptations, they add in miscommunication tropes that never happened in the first place. The fl and ml had issues in their 1st life, but in the 2nd one, there wasn't anything significant that I remember.
