Tbh, I think people are upset because every single episode everyone and their mother is trying to attack the female. She never gets a break. It's literally one thing after the other and it's getting annoying. And now on top of that, her maid that she saved is now lusting after her husband? It's very frustrating. And that's most likely why the rating went down. It's sad too because like you said the female lead is amazing and well-written. Additionally, the acting in this drama, in my opinion, is also really good. You can see the emotion clearly conveyed in each actor/actress's eyes. It's just everything else. And this isn't even the half of it because according to those who read the novel, there are more villains' and more bs to come.
