From what I gathered no. It's just in the novel she's not in love with the ML she's in love with CYQ but due to circumstances and some things he does, they don't end up together.

So in the trailer for the next episodes, the empress seemingly kills the emperor, and based on the clips we have seen JY will be fighting JC. His character honestly disgusts me. Your mom has committed so many sins and you are still fighting on her behalf? So much for not being the "villain". And in today's episodes, she said she wasn't scared as long as she had JY by her side. I'm...wow. I'm not exactly speechless but I hope the empress has a horrible ending.
