Yes they said that but based on what I gathered and the character map, he respects RRY. If you look at the character map in the discussion, the white emoji I mentioned in present and the arrows between them go back and forth, whereas the arrow between him and the right emissary only goes from her to him indicating that they don't have a mutual relationship. She is simply his subordinate. Also, in a previous episode in a flashback, you can see a young RX/RRY being welcomed to come up in front of everyone by him and him looking proud. I forgot what episode it was. But that flashback, plus the character map, is enough to let you know that their relationship is different form the one he has with his other subordinate.
Keep in mind that LTG thinks Yang Ying is a male prince and doesn't know her gender so seeing his Teacher hug…
Didn't he say in the most recent episodes though that she's not his teacher? She just looks like her. So I was under the assumptions that at least in this particular scene, he doesn't know that it's actually her. Also, I don't hate his character or anything. Tbh, I don't hate anyone. I saw spoiler clips on youtube that I posted on Twitter and here is what I'm pretty sure is going to happen in the next two episodes, episodes 19 and 20.
1. LTG will see RRY and YY hugging as the wind makes the blinds on their carriage move and will become jealous because he doesn't like the idea of sharing his "shifu" 2. This will lead to him being rude to the captive from Wu state and RRY will pour hot tea on him and signal for YY and the rest to leave with her. 3. He will then set up a plot to make it seem like assassins are after him so that NYZ and RRY will come to "rescue" him. 4. He will injure NYZ because remember NYZ's poison is acting up so he's not as strong as usual and the poison is causing him to die. 5. He'll say some crazy delulu thing about not letting anyone take RRY from him to himself. 6. RRY and the gang will be trying to figure out what to do and this is when she'll inform them that NYZ has been poisoned. 7. She'll feed NYZ her blood because her blood contains some sort of healing medicine which she mentioned in earlier episodes when NYZ was trying to tell her why they can't have a child together 8. It saves him
As for later episodes, do you guys remember the white emoji things on the calendar map? Those match up with the character map emojis of who is related to whom. So...
1. ep 25-26 is when there's some sort of development between YY and YL but more so on YY's end. So maybe this is when she realizes she likes him? 2. ep 27 - 28 is when YS and CY have some sort of development more so on his end 3. ep 31 - 32 is when RRY aka RX reunites with DH and it's a tearful reunion more so on his end 4. ep 33 - 34 something happens with QZ and Wu Di emperor 5. ep 37 - 38 something happens with YY and LTG that is shocking but more so on LTG's end.
I'm making these assumptions because if you look back the emoji on 13 - 14 was between YS and JMN and it was an emoji of looking scared which made sense since YS was scared of JMN because she wanted his head cut off. Well maybe not scared but y'all get what I mean. Also, the emoji on ep 11 - 12 is between LTG and CY and it's an angry emoji which made sense because they were fighting/didn't like each other.

I skimmed through the article and ngl I'm a bit confused on how this is related to my initial comment. I'm not worried about WJY or WXY's acting skills. I have seen several of their projects and to me, they are very talented. But being talented and having chemistry with someone are 2 very different things. So I'm just really hoping that the chemistry between them is good/it actually feels like their characters are in love.

It's not out of character. That's how he is with anything related to RY. The script has been leaked on weibo and this is on brand for him. He's clearheaded with things not concerning her but anything to do with her he goes nuts. And it's not that weird because this kind of character trope is pretty common in cdramas tbh. Now hating or liking it is a different matter. Personally, I don't hate it because it's entertaining to me but I can totally see how this would be a turnoff/annoying to other viewers.
Mr. Du is insane if he thinks that just because RRY like NYZ that he's going to be able to get her to do whatever he wants and he's even more insane if he thinks NYZ thinks like him. Part of the reason RY likes NYZ so much is because he's actually a good person and doesn't think about using women in such a way. It's part of the reason why he seems to be able to attract to former Scarlet Guard women because they know firsthand how awful most men are.
I'm wondering how the meeting with LTG will go in the next episodes though because in the previews we see RRY pouring a drink over LTG's head and he seems to be enjoying it. Then the trailer for the next episode shows the ambush where RRY will feed her blood which is medicinal to NYZ... Does her going undercover in An come after that? Ugh...Why 2 whole days? Tbh...I want a fast track lmao.
