Xiaoyao secretly kept only Xiangliu's image in her mirror. Infact, she even have Xiangliu's blood in her veins (she got it while he took care of her for 37 yrs.) proves, Xiaoyao & Xiangliu are already together by body, soul & mind. I'm glad that production kept these details same as novel.❤️

Cause its a 'CENSORED-ADAPTATION' means its vastly different from an actual bl dramas. Noticeably, as tags refers, its an action, comedy & politics drama. 'CENSORED-ADAPTATION' actually are made with strict restrictions. So, cast & crew worked on a refined script, which adheres to rules & regulations. Infact, its family friendly & can be watched simply just like any other normal regular ancient dramas. Hopefully, we get to see it soon.🍀
One of the closing sentence of series was: "You are bound to meet one day" (talks about Cangxuan & Xiaoyao). Its also foreshadows Xiangliu's rebirth (hinted throughout novel). *Spoiler* She actually forgives Xuan for killing Jing but she left him for killing Xiangliu. His death broke her limits. She goes towards sea (her source of connection with Xiangliu), by using her lineage magic to block him from finding her.
Author geniusly hinted that Xuan's hand in Xiangliu's death is reason she left him while Xiangliu's rebirth is an important reason for them to meet again. As seen with personality of Xiaoyao (smart, strong, capable character), it's impossible for her to stay with man like Jing for lifetime, who's incompetent, has no ambitions, no plans, no ideas. So, there's a high chance, of Xiaoyao, Xiangliu & Cangxuan meeting in future.

I understand you. Jing is quite an incompetent character. He's ok on surface, but deeply failed her expectations. XY wasn't an idiot to refused marry him for 43yrs. Actually, that makes sense. We shouldn't forget that there still season 1 villain, who wants to harm Shen Yi as he threatened him in their interrogation. Season 2 end somewhat a metaphor, hinting, that, danger is looming over Shen Yi. Du cheng being harmed is another nightmare of Shen Yi, foreshadowing someone trying to play with Shen Yi's sanity.
