yes, I agree, the sudden shift of focus to the supporting characters made me lose interest on the drama and also thank you for the piece of advice to not rely on views ranking.

agreed even lost in kunlun mountains did quite good as it topped both iqiyi and tencent daily rankings, whilst sel.... just thoughts and prayers it really is his floppiest drama to date... sahph is still doing good numbers in tencent, super stable with great longevity and it's dvd purchases for c-dramas this year is in the top 10 and royal feast is a humungous hit drama even if it's broadcasted in mango tv as it have lesser user subsciptions than the other 3 (iqiyi,youku,tencent)

a piece of information: there used to be the main six streaming platforms in china, the four we have right now plus letv and sohu.... but now those two don't produce many dramas anymore as it used to before and lost lots of users.... mango tv, iqiyi,tencent and youku are all still going strong tho.... with youku gaining the most monthly user subcriptions as of the moment right now.

xu kai's dramas this year did average.... snow eagle lord averages 12,810,000 views per episode whilst wonderland of love averages 15,083,000 views per episodes.

There's a list compiled by users based on maoyan stats for dramas that aired this year and sel is at 86th while wol is at 74th.... not bad but could've been better (ps: wonderland of love is showing some great signs of LONGEVITY and STABILITY tho so let's hope it manages to enter the top 50 for this year's dramas broadcasted)

My fcking goodness. ROYAL FEAST did EXCEPTIONALLY WELL for a mango tv drama with an average of 58 million views per episode for a total of 2.325 billion views all episodes combined..... and this information is outdated as this update was made on april 19, 2022. Imagine how much views it garnered up till now. wow.....
(fyi mango tv have the least users and subscribers out of the main 4 streaming platform in china, lesser than youku,tencent and iqiyi)

Hou Minghao have had such a good and successful year.... both of his dramas that aired in Youku reached 10,000 heat index!

the monkey king 3, a chinese ghost story, our times s2 and reading class (debatable) all not being able to see the light of day and be released in public.... I felt bad for this man, all those hardwork of shooting those dramas with nothing in return.... *sigh*

as an accounting major, I feel like I will LOVE this drama!
