Somebody please tell me where I have seen the actress who plays Shaoyao before. It's driving me crazy because I know I saw her in another drama recently.
This drama has too many evil women: the aunt, the royal princess, the daughter princess, eldest sister's mother-in-law, and sometimes grandma. It's getting tiring looking at so many bitchy faces.
What a great, sweet drama. It is similar to other modern romance dramas that have come out in the last 2 years, but I didn't have to fast forward through any boring parts in this one!
The only thing I don't get is why the camera always focused on the ex-boyfriend's wrist with that bracelet he was wearing. Did that have any meaning?
I got started late but am all caught up now. Wow, this is the most realistic portrayal of trauma I’ve ever seen in an Asian drama. All of the FL’s behavior and feelings just make sense and the balance between her feelings of duty vs. self-preservation is so well done. Everything hits just right, no overly dramatic psychosis or constant intrusions of toxic family. I hate the villains, but they’re not forcing them down my throat. This drama definitely deserves its high rating so far!
The agency did crappy job since they let him waste away almost 10 years without any dramas or romantic lead roles. He is already starting to look old and Korean entertainment industry is ageist af.
This is the first historical kdrama I’ve decided to watch till the end. it’s very good, but wow the level of sexism is something I’ve never even seen in Chinese dramas. It kind of explains a lot about modern Korean sexism.
I feel like I am watching a Chinese version of a British costume drama I usually see on Masterpiece Theater. The cinematography and attention to detail is really different from other period c-dramas, even above Ming Lan and Love Like the Galaxy. The way they filmed the carriages and the marketplace to small details like brushing teeth and making food is really on another level. I hope the writing lives up to the production because so far the mom is really too campy and annoying.
