I agree both JXN and XW are grey characters. But that's not what bothers me. It's just the toxic masculinity of XW. How he controls her, reprimand her. He doesn't have any faith in her at all. Her decisions may be imperfect, but it's her own decision. She is a women. She has her own freedom to do what she likes and she clearly know her limits. So why would he all go barbaric on her? Many may think that I want ZZ over XW because I like the actor playing the role. Trust me, that's not the reason. Infact SML's last drama, 'Scent of time', I wanted FL to be end up with her bodyguard because Wang Xing Xue's character was bit similar to XW(though not barbaric like XW). Anyway FL ended up with Wang Xing Xue's character because that bodyguard was just a fictional character created by FL's mind when she was in coma.

Yes, I had to leave the drama in the middle too. I loved her with ZZ and I even posted a comment here reg same. But no one liked the pair. They all are rooting for Xie Wei and JXN. Someone even commented that Since JXNs character is slightly on grey side, will ZZ able to accept her. Since he is a morally upright person he will try to change her and she always has to act in front of him. But isn't he the same one who let go of his morals and principles for her in previous life? Isn't a testimony for his love for her. He accepted her wholeheartedly with all her flaws and imperfections. And if am not wrong, as per the novel, he has memories of his past life, and he is still there for her. So I thought they deserve eachother. Xie Wei's possessive nature and lack of respect towards JXN's decisions is off putting. In the start he wanted girls to have political awareness but when she started using those in daily life to save her loved ones, he always reprimand her. It's like he always want her to be his damsel in distress. And he force her to do things which she doesn't even like. She never wanted to be at palace. She didn't like to play Qin but he force her to do all these stuffs. And when she uses her wit to out done her enemies, he just get angry at her..what kind of love is this. ?? It's just stupid male toxicity.

It's the other way..right? The FL with William Chan one was really stupid. She always wanted to stay away from palace politics but she got involved with both brothers in her next life and made too many stupid decisions.
The other one with Xing Fei, Lost track of time, it was pretty good. FL lead is portrayed as a smart one

What happened in today's episode? Normally I would wait for drama to complete, but this one I started early. Anyway I had to stop in the middle of 7th episode due to anxiety.

Her voice is naturally harsh. In "The kings affection" drama, though she is a female, her voice is exactly like male. In cross dressing dramas, She may be the only heroine that made me felt like male because of voice(Min Jae Yi from Our blooming youth comes close to her). Her voice is not sweet.

But who is he to discuss JXN relationship when she is not even there? And his reason, he is her teacher?? Seriously?? Since when did we gave this rights to teachers??

Yes , he would accept her without any issues. Because she was evil in her previous life. He still loved her with all her flaws and evil inside her. Remember the scene from previous life when she begs him to do something for her, although he has always been a upholder of justice, he still went ahead and did what she asked for and he got in to jail because of that. But he never blamed her and accepted punishment. And thats why she asked to spare his life in exchange of her from XW. So I really think JXN can be who she is with ZZ without any reservations. Because he loved her with all those imperfections. And if it's true that ZZ is also reincarnated, then he still love her even when he know what happened to him in past because of her. JXN changed herself because she wanted to change her fate not to be with ZZ. She is trying to reverse what she did in the past. And it's her who wanted to change herself. Isn't what we call character growth? So I think it's better for her to be with ZZ than be with manipulative XW. Don't ask how XW is manipulative?? She never wanted to be in palace and she is there because of YL and XW. She don't want to learn Qin. Then why the hell is he forcing her to do so?? Moreover , all he does is question her choices and rebukes her whenever she made smart move to change her past. But for many here, her smart thinking is jeopardising his revenge. How is that ? Like what he does is smart but when she does the same, it's illogical and causing problems to ML??How biased are you guys?? I think JXN is one of the well written smart and quirky female character in the history of cdrama itself.

And how she became the reason for imprisonment? Isn't Duke Xue hell bent on sending them to prison. Remember the sword thing was already sorted out when Duke Xue came with decree from Majesty. And they were exiled for not respecting imperial order not because of JXN.

How would she know weapons wasn't allowed there? And it wasn't JXN who created the issue. YL could have restrainted himself. And that Xue kid , that brat's ego blown up.

Because of my comment many may think that am a Wang Xing Xue's fan. Yes I like his "acting" but that's not why I want ZZ and JXN together. Infact before watching this, I watched "scent of time" and he is the male lead there. And his character is also similar to Xie Wei's. Always trying to lecture FL. And that was the reason why I wanted FL and her bodyguard to be together in the end. Too bad the bodyguard was a fictional character created by FL while she was in coma..

In that case, I don't want to be with him too. But I believe all the scheming she has done to change her fate. But ZZ loved empress(previous life)with her all evilness and imperfections. If he is reincarnated just like her, he is perfectly aware of how she was.

Anyway this comment was not meant to justify ZZ and criticize XW. My only issue with XW is that his lack of respect for her choices. Other than that whom she end up with is not my point..

See I told you I like his character except the way he treats JXN. He can scheme all the day. And I love how cunning he is with his ruthlessness. And I actually want him to kill his father and Empress Dowager for what they did to his family. But why can't he accept JXN ways and choices she makes. Going to prison to see off her childhood friend is a stupid thing but that was her choice. She knew where she was going. If he had told her about planned attack in prison, she might not have gone there at night. Now that she has she gone there , he is asking "how dare she?". Iam asking "who the hell is he to judge her when he himself is a shady character"???

I think I have explained my reason for this comment in above thread.. I don't have any problem with his scheming ways. He can scheme all the day. But when she does something or make some smart moves, he has problem. It's like he always wanted her to be dependent on him. I believe every girl/lady has an independent identity . They are not just extension of their male counterpart.

So what am asking is why does she always scolds her?? reprimand her? Is she a kid? She does have the freedom to do what she likes.

Sorry. When did I say that I want them to be politically correct. ?I just want him to treat her with respect. Respect her choices. Just because she is a female, she is not a damsel in distress. She could stand her own ground. Remember how cleverly used her brain to escape whenever something goes wrong. Even then all he does is reprimand her. I just want him to accept her as it is with all her imperfections.

People are still in Victorian period.. They are yet to realise the character like XW is typical toxic male masculinity. ZZ and YL like characters are need of hour.

Yes, now she is scheming but that is to change her and her loved ones fate..what if she wants a quite peaceful life after that? She don't want to be in palace and Xie Wei is most probably going to rule the country.
