Every movie that doesn't do well or live up to expectations complains of suppression. The real culprits are probably…
What else can you call the following: 1. Movie was pulled into the Spring Festival to be a filler 2. Director Han Yan, who wanted to release the movie during summer vacation, was told he had no authority to refuse the invitation 3. The few showtimes left were mostly from 1 to 5 AM 4. Sessions were being cancelled with no prior notice
xie changwu is the one who challenges shen miao after the archery during imperial examination right???
Cai Lin, an ardent admirer of Shen Yue, challenges SM to archery. Xie ChangWu, Xie Jing Xing's step-brother, challenges her next, probably to curry favor with Cai Lin's dad
I think it would be changed more than that, Shen Miao simply too vicious for a protagonist in a cdrama
I can't help feeling sorry for poor Lu Ling, a country boy contending against a dazzling sophisticated beauty like XJX. Lu Ling would have been a good husband to SM, but she and XJX belong together. Regarding actor bashing here, it turned me off kdramas forever. I hated that the industry itself seemed to be sabotaging actors. I still watch one or two kdramas a year, but not as much as before, when I was continuously watching them. And it pushed me towards cdramas which is actually good, since the fantasy elements and humor in cdramas, like the ones in GOTD, are more my type. However, the sabotage of the industry against actors is also happening in C-Ent, so, I've been limiting my exposure to cdramas, since I don't want to watch any dramas of actors who encourage this behavior. Right now, I just watch Dylan who, I'm sure, doesn't play dirty.

Me too! Having discussions like this about the stories, swooning and laughing over how a headstrong and arrogant ML falls head over heels in love with the FL, was my reason for joining mydramalist. Who would have known that I would spend more time fending off hate against the actors and actresses than just enjoying the dramas with those who are also into the stories?

Lol, "XJX would never bow to anyone's will except SM's" makes me grin from ear-to-ear coz it's so true, cute, romantic and heartwarming; the rebellious, arrogant and headstrong XJX tamed by SM 🤣 I can't wait to see XJX taking care of their sons 🥰

For me, the reason for the assault doesn't matter. Both women schemed for assault to happen and even watched it. Granted, Shen Miao's sister was willing for her to suffer the same fate but witnessing an assault happening without doing something to stop it, even if the victim is her mortal enemy, is, for me, the worst thing a woman could do, a punishment worse than death. Surely, the author could have thought of other ways for SM to escape Prince Yu's clutches without becoming an active participant of a girl's violation. But I guess readers have been warned about the kind of FL the book has by calling her "malicious".
With his first on-set photos, Dylan showed everyone why the producers want him and no one else as Xie Jing Xing/Prince Rui of Daliang/Great Liang. He is not only dazzlingly handsome, his aura is perfect for the legendary character. https://x.com/Adriana80791695/status/2028090168972833157
Hi, this post will get lost as more comments accumulate. Can you please repost this in the discussion section?
Good idea. I'm sure this controversy will re-surface again and again. If this is in the discussion section, we can easily point those who question the billing towards the discussion topic.

I'm so glad to find a kindred spirit in you regarding this drama. I agree with everything you've said, especially about retaining their personalities as being more important than the POV when adapting the novel to drama. XJX's understanding of and respect for SM's ability and desire to be treated as equal, not a damsel in distress, is one of the things I so love about him. The most extraordinary thing I've read that showed a man's love and respect for his wife is when XJX declined all advise to get a new wife and arranged for a comatose SM to attend his coronation. That made him #1 in my list of favorite cdrama MLs.

I'm looking forward to how the scriptwriter would change unsavory portions to make them more palatable. Would the scriptwriter keep the pregnancy subplot to force Prince Yu's hand or use another way to deal with him? With so many more interesting surprises to look forward to with the adaptation, change of POV is the least of my worries.

Oh, I forgot that what happened to the Qin Princess was instigated by XJX, not SM. Time to continue re-reading the novel 😃 I had started my 2nd read of it but stopped when it seemed like Didi was not going to take the project on.
The Chinese title of this drama, MSN-translated to "The Last of a Distinguished Family", is actually brilliant.…
In another thread, somebody pointed out that the more accurate translation of the Chinese drama title, 将门独后, is "Only Daughter Of a General Family". I've actually seen this on Twitter posts but Tencent Video has not officially released an English title yet.

Haha, the "malicious" word in the title is well-deserved. Shen Miao 's viciousness is truly epic. It would be great if the scriptwriter can rewrite the entire Wolong incident such that Shen Miao doesn't sound like Ghislaine Maxwell's mentor but keep the gist, i.e. foil the wicked plans of her relatives and the prince.

Exactly! I like what she did with Chang Zai Qing. Same with Jing Chuchu. Her revenge against the Qin Princess was somewhat shocking too, though several notches below the shock level of Wolong temple.
What did Didi mean when he said on the Feb 26 roadshow, "Well, it's probably really time to draw a full stop…
I think WHD was referring to the roadshows. The movie is still ongoing and despite the screening suppression, it just reached the 90M milestone as announced in this link: https://x.com/DylanWangGlobal/status/2027493899993026577

Is this normal in the Chinese movie industry?
