For me, it's the ultimate fantasy. Who doesn't want to go back to the past, right or avoid the mistakes made, and exact justice against those who hurt you and your loved ones? This is one of the best Chinese novels I've read so far.

Me too! I was hesitant about sounding unsupportive of his projects, but he needs to rest, and these side projects are depriving him of much needed rest. And yeah, frying CP is beneath him. He should also beware of over-exposure.

How ironic. This novel was written long before most, if not all, dramas that have been airing recently were made. Some dramas probably copied parts of it. I know one that has a marked similarity with the FL’s family background..

Exactly! He is such a formidable character that he lingered longer in my thoughts after reading the novel. I had actually wished there was an accompaniment novel from his POV, like how Midnight Sun tells the story of Twilight from the POV of Edward Cullen. I hope the drama will tell the story from BOTH SM and XJX's POVs.

I agree. XJX's story did not only start when he met SM. He led a very colorful life before they met. So, it would be good for the drama to show that from the start, instead of it just being perfunctorily discussed or just a part of SM's "dreams" as is done in the novel. But this can be the best drama in history and Dylan's antis would still call it trash. Most of this hate is from other actors' fans who wanted their faves to get the part. They don't know the producers have been wanting Dylan to play XJX since 2022.

Both the leads are exquisitely beautiful such that those who are biased against extremely good-looking people, thinking they can't possibly be so talented, grossly underestimate their talents. Watch their dramas first before judging (Love Between Fairy and Devil and Guardians of the Dafeng for him, Love in Pavilion and Blossom for her).

First of all, the producers were the ones who insisted on Dylan playing XJX. They have been eyeing him for the role since 2022. If you bothered checking out Dylan's choice of projects, he has been avoiding romance dramas lately. Second, there's no report of Dylan acting like a diva. He has always been considered one of the best behaved cdrama actors; he has been in the TOP 3 kindest actors list for several years now. In addition, he doesn't need anything to look cooler because he is naturally cool. Third, there is no official word from the production team whether the drama is going to be male-centric. Even if it becomes one, that is the scriptwriter's prerogative. It's an "adaptation", not a word-for-word translation of the novel into drama form. In fact, there would already be changes in the "rebirth" part since C-Ent does not allow rebirth in dramas.

This being made into a male-centric drama is just a rumor, most probably spread by antis who have nothing better to do with their lives than sabotaging Dylan's every move.

If her story remains intact, what's misogynistic about it? One can tell a story about women from different perspectives. That has been done since time immemorial. These attacks are just plain sabotage. It's not even known yet if the POV is going to change.

I think the drama is going to be balanced, neither female-centric nor male-centric. I also think those who are making a big fuss of this issue are just out to sabotage the drama.

Here's an interesting comment on Twitter/X about the female-centric nature of the novel and the rumor it's going to be turned into a male-centric drama that a post claimed the novel readers won't allow:

XJX has a great story that is just as compelling as Shen Miao's. I think the drama is going to end being balanced - NEITHER female-centric nor male-centric

I agree. He is wasting his time on other pursuits. I hope he realizes and cares that viewers feel more attached to dramas than variety shows. If he wants to stay long in the business, he might want to focus more on dramas and movies.

Kinda amused at the comments questioning Dylan's suitability for the role. In fact, the producers have been eyeing Dylan to play XJX since 2022. I understand that the producers had to force Dylan to take this role, in exchange for which, he also gets GOTD season 2. This got me interested in reading the novel and I finally understood why the producers insisted on Dylan playing XJX. All I could imagine while reading the novel was Dylan as XJX. He suits the role 100%. There were even times when I wondered whether the novel writer had him in mind while writing the character of XJX. But the novel was written in 2010's and Dylan would have been, like, 12 years old then. 🤣

Nobody can smirk like Dylan 😊 His naughtiness is, in fact, one of the things I love about him.

It's also one of my favorite Chinese novels. There are some discussions on social media that this might change from female-centric in the novel to male-centric in the drama. What do you think?

I love Dylan and Meng Zi Yi. With equally stunning visuals, similar slim physique and perfect height difference, they look perfect together. They stood out in the Wonderland variety show, their sparring and bickering making me giggle, with the intensity of their chemistry. Can't wait to see them in this drama.

The producers have been eyeing Dylan for this role since 2022. And they're right. He's perfect for the role of Xie Jing Xing.

In real life, he's 3 years younger than MZY. In the novel, XJX is supposed to be 2 to 4 years older than SM. It seems they made him up to look older. But I hope they don't overdo it and just let him look naturally. He looks better with less makeup.
