Actually, I told myself that if this drama focuses more on romance, i will hate it. And it didn't disappoint, just the right amount of romance and tacit understanding of each other. Which didn't hinder the ML to carry out his mission. Unlike most dramas, the introduction of the opposite sex means change of plans.

I think am at the stage where these types of female lead characters bore me. I noticed there was more comedy with shangguan and her husband more than anyone else. I also liked the drama in the crown lord's house, they had more interesting drama going on than the lead couple. I skipped to their parts but i got lost in the story, so I dropped it.

Am on episode 2 but so far am questioning a lot of things about this FL. She fiercely fought the guy who wanted to rape her but when she was saved by her mother, she became a weak woman. And that argument by the sea was very unnecessary, going back and forth until the enemies caught up with them. Made my blood boil of anger.

You can not say for sure that there will be no romance. Unless you have seen the script. I have seen a lot of male centric dramas where there's also romance.

Though my favorite celebrity in China is Xiao Zhan, I've got no problem with other actors/actress. I like Zhang Jingyu, I think she's beautiful and talented actress. Am actually enjoying watching her right now in Blossom in Adversity.

The audacity of He Hongling to come back after years and hope to rekindle the love. She left him when he needed her the most and now that he's back to health, thanks to another woman, she even has the nerve to say say "you broke up with me through a letter." I say good riddance to her. She's is selfish and arrogant, am sorry but I never really liked her from the beginning.

Am rewatching Vincenzo and I didn't realize how irritating the FL is. The script writer really managed to make her character irritating, more especially when she is dealing with vincenzo. I don't know why women in K & C dramas like to force men into submission but if its the other way round men will be viewed as stubborn or ungentlemanly. Otherwise, every one else's character was superb 👌

Same here, dropped it. I went in it for the ml since I watched him first in blood of youth and he did very well. I couldn't care less about the fl's acting but what made me drop the drama the same old way of script writing. The story development is too slow or even non-existence. Maybe it's going to get interesting in front but i don't have time to worst. After watching episode 6, I was like, "thank you, next"

The only 10/10 I will give this drama are all the OSTs. The rest just not bad but also not great. The first time I watched it, I thought hmm... its slow burn romantic drama it's only when I rewatched it when I was questioning some of the scenes.

I must say I loved this drama, it's one of the few more than 70 episodes drama i have watched without fast forwarding. Although I agree with you on the fact that Gu Tingye wanted Minglan to show him more love and care. For a person who is supposed to be smart but couldn't understand what her husband is asking of her, the writer didn't do her justice and it was annoying to watch. Other than that it was a very nice drama for a 73 episodes.

Have you ever watched the story of the Yanxi palace? What is the difference? What am trying to say is that, these scenarios weren't uncommon back then.

The drama doesn't show whether he slept with any of them but my conclusion is he doesn't. He ignores them the entire time and am sure that's what lead them to resort to scheming

This drama is historical, and has to be realistic. A long time ago girls used to get married as early as they are sexualy active. And it wouldn't matter to whom they marry. If you happen to get married to the one you love, you will be one of the few lucky ones. In this drama Lingyi's first wife was his agemate and the love of his life. It was the circumstances that made him marry a girl half his age. If you had observed him, he didn't want to do it but he thought of his wife's dying wish and went through with it.

I found all characters to be unreasonable at some point, but it's being human. E.g Ml going for the Sml's crush is no no. Sml's infurioty complex. Sfl's selfishness, even third ml &fl had their own imperfections, except for the Fl who was so patient and not forcing herself on the ml but just being there for him. The most thing i hate about a woman is being clingy, it's not cute 😒

I actually felt the same way, the chemistry between shi Ying and Zhu Yan was non existence. However, I could ship Zhu Yan with Zhi Yuan from the very beginning. She cared for Zhi Yuan and vice-versa. On the other hand it's only Shi Ying who secretly cared for her. Nevertheless i enjoyed the plot and the visuals

I have just finished re-watching this drama for 4th times and am not done yet. It's the first C-drama I've watched where I have not questioned a character's behavior when confronted with a certain situation. It really depicted what people do in real life. Most of the C-dramas I will be like this can never happen in real life unless you are insane, it's unrealistic. However, with youth memories, I was invested, I was like 'ouw'... 'yeees' 😁 . Gave it 10/10
